Um... Can't you just say you're sick? Why does there have to be a made-up disease behind it?

say you're going to be in a friends wedding party. i've used this and many others. i could write a book of excuses to miss work.

If it was only one day you had to call in sick for or whatever diarrhea is pretty good.... But its best for just a whim of a day off, not sure it would help you get time off for your entire coachella trip.... But seriously no one questions the diarrhea.

but you would have to provide some sort of evidence. that is what i mean. like if someone has a wedding, you are supposed to show them the wedding invite.

i've never had to do that.

This is the first time I've had a job during Coachella.
And they are giving me 5 days off for my "brother's wedding".

Little do they know..

EDIT: Supposed to show a wedding invitation? Bullshit. It's not against the law to take time off for a vacation/event.

Is this high school? Dude, they'll believe anything! If you are talking about college, then good luck. I tried to talk to my chem professor into letting me take the test on thursday and said no. I had to come back take the test and then go back.

You can use diarrhea as an excuse? Fuck, I get that every time I drink LA tap water.

but regardless of excuses, good luck explaining a new
tan or sunburn

wtf school do you go to? shhhit.

they just implemented a new rule at my school that they can no longer demand any sort of documentation, if you say you are sick, they have to just accept it and count the absence as excused. of course i doubt most profs follow this rule, and the one who told the class about it is the most intimidating human in the world, if i lied to her i would surely spontaneously combust.

if your school really is that nazi, forgery is your friend. how hard could it be to craft ONE wedding invitation/doctors note?

My last final is April 19. I leave for Coachella April 22. So I am fine in that department.

One word: Diarrhea. Just utter that one, disgusting word and any employer/teacher/professor on the planet will immediately cringe and excuse you.

I can attest to this! If you wanna go all out, say you have the stomach flu or something and that you're both shitting the runs AND barfing up your soul. "I'd go to class, but I'd spend most of it in the bathroom and may not be able to make it that far to a toilet to begin with" Email or sad phone message.

But then you really, REALLY can't get sunburnt or extra tanned. Or a broken wrist.

One time when I needed a doctors note I power smoked 6 cigarettes on an empty stomach then went to the clinic shaking, pale white and sweating.

Last year my bosses knew that I was going, and they were pretty cool. I think, for classes at least, I might pull the "relative is getting married" card out on them. =D

There's been so much bullshit going on at my job lately that when I was imformed today of the new rule concerning "No requests for Fridays or Sundays Off for the remainder of the Season," I simply stated the Coachella dates, and that I would be taking those days off, not asking for them....

Psh. Just tell your Professors in advance that you wont be there that Thursday [I'm assuming that like most universities school is pretty much vacant on Friday] and most likely Monday. If there's any important tests or assignments on that day just ask to do them early or later. No big.

That's what I did last year and I had no problems

what i did last year, was strategically created my coachella vacation so that i missed 1 day from each class and a week off of work and internship. i said that my grandma had fallen gravely ill, and i had to escort her back to el salvador. or i said my aunt died and i had to escort her back to the funeral in el salvador. i can't remember..

but it worked.

Just say you have a pet that got injured really bad or say you have a kid and he/she is really sick and you can't afford a sitter. Kids and pets always do the trick. It's almost illegal to say no to kids and pets.

I had a TA, who I had talked with music about and had a sense of humour straight up that I was going to Vegoose and I was going to miss 1 lecture and a tutorial section. He told me that was not an excuse. I thought he was joking, so I kinda laughed. Then repeated it again, dead seriously. So it became awkward. In the end, I lost 1% off my final grade for missing the tutorial section. So no BIG deal. I was just surprised because I thought he would have been cool with it.
To make a long story short. Don't even tell Proffs/TAs/whoever what your actual plans are. I am not never doing it again. To be fair, the TA said it was my choice whether or not I wanted to loose the marks. And he said if I did decide to go (which wasn't a question) he told me to have extra dan at Daft Punk and Gogol Bordello.

Awkward . . . honesty is never the best idea. Being a a TA, I get to see all this tomfoolery from the other side of the fence. Keep in mind profs and TAs aren't stupid, we hear the dead/sick/marrying relative excuse every week of the semester. When you get away with it, it's not because you're so brilliant, it's because we can't prove otherwise so we really don't give a shit.

You best bet is diarrhea, no one wants to consider the implications of you pissing out of your ass, much less do we want to hear about it. Diarrhea = automatic excuse

two words: strep throat... requires at least a two days to be cleared non-contagious.
