coachella2008

Have you seen the new camping options for Coachella this year?

Pre-set up tents with air mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows, and more! All you have to do is show up and your tent is already in the vip location set up for you! They even offer more private, upgraded showers, as well as a free hot buffet breakfast, close parking, and a shuttle to and from the show. The Safari tents come with luxury packages, including beds (1 or 2), AIR CONDITIONING!, fully decorated, and ALL ACCESS show wristbands for the whole weekend! All this and more, with the luxury of not having to leave the venue!

I think it's free to take Amtrak in if you get one of the camping packages... that makes it worth it. You don't drive.

And how many times do you go camping? Honestly, do you need a tent? Are you a child who wants to set it up on the weekends, maybe in the backyard of your apartment building? Come on, donate that shit to homeless folks, foolio.

If you're onsite, why do you need free shuttles? Are they golf carts?

edit: nevermind, it looks like this is all across the street from the polo field.

I want a safari tent so bad. Air conditioning and ALL ACCESS? Sucks to be a pov.

Are background checks required for purchasers of these? It would suck for some crazy stalker like this to save up all his welfare checks and hurt someone backstage:

The thing that kind of annoys me is the In and Out privliages. I thought it was the city of Indio that was against that, if not why can't all the campers have it as well? Is this just a test and if in and out work will it be expanded to everyone next year?

I wish there was a shuttle from and to downtown Palm Springs.

Big$Dreams
03-06-2008, 03:59 PM
Let me clarify. A bio-fuel bus company is trying to work out details of creating a promotional shuttle from major so-cal cities. Making it work out $$wise is always the problem. But it would be rad. no? I am HOPING people would be into it. There is definitely an Amtrak deal, anyone planning on using the trains!

Hey Dani, there's a typo on the onsite lodging page. It says that "Message Therapists" are available for a fee. I think it's "Massage", unless there's some bold new development in therapy I'm not privy to.

I upgraded to the on-site lodging.

Lets see...

New camping gear already set up
Real flushable toilets +1000
No lines for showers +500
Hot breakfast included (major added value)
Shade tent
Chairs
Lighting
Newspapers
No lugging of camping gear through airports
Added security
Massage Therapist
Private parking close to tents (compared to regular camping)
Shuttle

All for much less than a hotel with no traffic to contend with to and from the venue.

Totally worth the money.

I'm with you. I'm seriously considering it. I won't deny that it's pricey, but so is a hotel room, and it seems like a pretty good middle ground between the "real" campground and driving back and forth to a hotel every morning and night.

i will go out on a limb to answer your question, as long as you know im just a boardie and i talk out of my ass alot...

anyways...

the 2008 onsite lodging safari tent cost $4000 + fees, for that price, you got two all access passes to the site (wristbands) and two access passes to onsite lodging (wristbands), also a safari tent that was assigned to you.

so for 2008 yes, no more than two, you can go alone, but that doenst mean you pay less, it only means you have an extra access pass and lodging pass...

now, here is where i talk out of my ass, i am pretty sure they will have the option in 09, especially since the pages for onsite lodging have been recently edited to include tons of pictures of how cool the onsite lodging really was...

i sure hope so, i will gladly give GV my money...

but i should say in all seriousness, if i factor into the equation the cost and time spent driving, the cost spent on a hotel, plus the time spent driving to and from it every day of the festival (thats like 3+ hours a day, 1 coming in, 2 going out!), the cost of two vip tickets, plus food...

or

i get a train ticket to trainchella...

so i just drive from my house to train station, take train to LA, take train to Indio, and then have all access for pretty much 4 straight days? and only money spent on food?

it works out the same...

So you'd buy VIP tickets anyway. At least with the safari thing you get all-access, right? Better than normal VIP.

i would so do the safari thing but now i just gotta find someone to be as ridiculous as me and will spend that sort of money. Oh it would be worth it, then I could enjoy the sahara at nighttime and not be towered over all around me.

too bad i spent all my "extra" money on apw...

next year ill have to find a rich bitch to split the 4grand tent with...

hello friend!!

i am single, i have no kids...and im really, really selfish...

also fulltime/salaried/nonexempt so i get overtime :)

i will say though, you do have a nice bar :)

edit: i can definitely think that if it was a daft punk pyramid, you would be so fucking down!emtgreg, since you're single and have no kids, I'll overlook the selfish part and save you $2000. You'ld have AC, a shower, and I'll sing Banana Pancakes as I make them in the morning. The best part is you'ld get to see that nice bar up close...

Did anyone here stay at the tent hotel last year? is it worth it? does anyone know which entrance was being used for the tent hotel campers? do they have an entrance for them or do you use the main entrance? regular campers entrance? also looking to see that in the off chance that someone from the bay area who wouldn't kill me in my sleep would be interested in sharing the cost of a safari tent for 09, I mean 2 grand for all that you'd get for 'chella's 10th b-day would be epic..

i would be down for that, i am needing someone to split it with myself since my friends are lame and would never go for that, so i am left here.

2000 for air conditioned room and all access....so worth it, i think.

Looks like the tent hotels are being relocated to the regular camping field.

From what I get out of it, everything got taken out of that part except for the tent and everything inside of it, all for the same fucking price. What a rip-off. It's the camping area that made it so nice. At least you get to keep the tent.
