What are some of the local bands (local as in from the city you reside in) that people would like to hear play on the first day -- the day GoldenVoice is not announcing the line-up for and is free for entry. There are so many gems all over the country and the continent that people should hear! Share!
For me there are two bands that live in the city just next to my town that are absolutely fantastic. They are called Azeda Booth (check out their songs (http://www.myspace.com/azedabooth))... they put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen... and Chad Vangaalen (listen (http://www.myspace.com/chadvangaalen))... both so good.
Hope you guys can check them out... and I am interested to hear the local bands you enjoy!

that is the dumbest rumor ever.

I guess it is just that then... a rumour. Regardless, what is some of the local talent you would like to hear at this year's festival? Although I'm sure none of the mentioned artists will actually play... I am interested to hear what other people are listening to besides the more well known bands.

Eats Tapes ( www.myspace.com/eatstapes )
super fast mind fucking beats that you can't help but shake your rump to... mad circuit bending, nes console catridge playing, trippy projection goodness
Chime in Choir ( www.myspace.com/crimeinchoir )
reminding everyone that progressive instrumental music is not just left to the likes of explosions in the sky, its like fine sushi buffet for the ears.

Here's my list of LOS ANGELES local talent. check em out.
REEVE CARNEY - bar / pop rock with Hendrix quality guitar jams.
- the labels have been all over this one. He's been playing to sold out Molly Malone's crowds all year.
SHE'S YOUR SISTER - chicago based 4 piece, now resides in L.A.
- they sound kind of like the Pixies and / or the Replacements. A seriously cool little rock show. Killer vocalist and drummer.
PRESENT TENSE - the most psychedelic live show in L.A.
- they sound somewhere between 60's garage rock, and a more RAWK version of Portishead. smooth femme vocals, lots of trippy sound fx and grooves. Atmospheric.
CHISSUM WORTHINGTON - Wesely Willis got nothing on this guy. wow.
- He comes dressed like Cal Worthington, and sings tasteless songs about really random things. Its like a weird Karaoke nightmare from a David Lynch film. Art.

I'd love to see Marble Engine there even though they aren't nearly popular enough to even be considered. Best band in Canada right now IMO.

I thought i'd bring this thread back to life...
My local band for '08 would be my brother's band Meche or a friend of mine's band Keyser Soze, or an up-and-coming local band, Cirque de Sound. Last but not least, a band whom isn't local but a good band nonetheless, Car Engines VS. Jet Engines.
