If I have randomly fallen in love with Silversun Pickups, what other bands would you recommend??

My boss heard me playing some silversun pickups the other day and he totally loved it! I want to burn a few songs for him... to broaden his musical horizons a little :)
But I can't for the life of me decide what to burn for him... he is in his forties, not into the new music scene but knows good music when he hears it.
Any suggestions? :)

First time I ever heard them was the Lazy Eye video, and I instantly thought of these albums. Even the video was basically a ripoff, er, homage to the Dirty Boots video.

But if he's in his 40s and has good taste in music, he probably already has these...

I ended up at a party at the singers house 2 years ago, he lived with the girl in the band (they arent in a relationship though) he mentioned he was in a band but never said the name. A year later maybe more they got bigger and saw the band at troubadour. I realized who it was and cracked up. Saw them again at troub and liked both sets but their coachella set should never have been on the mainstage. They should have been in mojave or outdoor theater at most. That way Peter Bjorn and John could have taken mainstage instead since they had such a big draw at the mojave...although not sure if they played the same day anyway but still thats what I feel. See where these rants go...

It may not be a question for a genius... but definately for someone much more decisive than me. I just can't decide what to make him listen to... the classics have already been much topic of conversation, but I want to show him that some of the new stuff rocks too. You know? Show him that I'm not a dumb ass for spending hundreds of dollars and 5 days at a music festival in 2008... LOL :)

He's probably going to die soon. I wouldn't waste the CD-R.

or at least use a CD-RW so you can take it from his corpse and re-record on it.

MGMT. No one can resist the MGMT.

Also I'd say Grand Ole Party is a solid bet for a track or two.

Oh, and The Black Keys of course. I don't think dudes over the age of 40 could possibly resist them.

definitely early Smashing Pumpkins. Secret Machines seems like a good suggestion, too.

I enjoyed their Coachella show. Nothing special, but I enjoyed it.

Wheres the beef?
