Andrew other people know things too but you are the only one to keep flaunting it.

bballarl

I'm not flaunting anything. I'm just having a hard time containing excitement.

She plays shoegaze? SICK.

PotVsKtl

Emily Haines' music can in no way be categorized as "shoe gazer."

The RHCP certainly are mindblowing, aren't they?

I talked to Emily after her show at the Viper Room :pulse

Okay gang, time to find out what are some bands that she would consider "mind blowing"

Alchemy
01-19-2007, 12:02 PM
Emily Haines, ay? I can dig that. Mind blowing headliners? The Beatles?

noisemachine
01-19-2007, 12:06 PM
For all we know, Emily Haines could consider the Red Hot Chili Peppers to be "mindblowing." Im assuming she has better taste than that, but its kind of subjective.

Alchemy

She seems like she would like Smashing Pumpkins. But I hope she finds Pulp very mind-blowing.

Boourns
01-19-2007, 12:24 PM
Would Chili Pepper fans consider their appearance that mind-blowing, since they tour so frequently? I'm guessing it's something highly unusual and unexpected.

bmack86

Robert Johnson is highly unusual and unexpected. So is Miles Davis.
Or, Ornette Coleman. And he's still alive, so bonus points.

No way, I'm betting on William Hung and Chris Burke.

Emily Haines...love it! Let's hope it is for real.

I think it's harder for Andrew because he found out in a completely organic way and he's holding his tongue so he won't steal GV's thunder. I think he's doing a really good job.

PS LA people, come see Emily Haines at the El Rey on Jan 23 - next Tues!

I know, I think I would be strong enough not to say who the band is, but I'd probably give a hint like whether or not it is a reunion or something.

dorkfish

I happen to know for a fact that Emily Haines has every single one of The Eagles' albums and has told me on numerous occasions that she finds their music "explosive...mentally explosive...dynamite...simply mind boggling."

I don't know if she'd consider The Eagles mind blowing though.

Emily Haines and The Soft Skeleton, yay! I am excited. I heard her solo stuff is emotionally powerful and very beautiful.

"Mind blowing" headliner...The only mind blowing one I can think of that ring the same resonance as the emotion in emily's music would be Bjork (+1 million other collaborators)

:)

I interviewed Emily a while back and she said that there is one person she would be thrilled to play with.

And that's Morrissey.

nmaff
01-20-2007, 05:28 AM
she said in a radio interview that the artist she was most excited to see at coachella last year was 'nine black alps'

they didn't suddenly go multi-platinum and shoot to the top of the charts worldwide in the last week or so did they?

cuz i like em, but i don't know many other people who have ever even heard of them.

(this board doesn't count, because everyone on here is a snob music-elitist.) (yes, that is a compliment.)

CuervoPH

Her exact words were: "The headliner is mind-blowing, as in Super Bowl Halftime Show mind-blowing"

(or not...)

Maybe she is busy working with Broken Social Scene on that film score, The Tracey Fragments? That is the only thing I have heard of that might keep her away from Coachella.

Wait... is someone saying they talked to Emily Haines, and she said that another headliner band is going to be added and it will be mind-blowing?
If so, did she say it was a definate or a possible?
