Heard from a friend, who's friends with someone who should know, who says it's nearly certain that both Muse and Mars Volta will be adding. Take that for what it's worth, I suppose.

I love the Muse and originally had hope they would have been on the lineup already. I missed them at Vegoose last year. If this turns out to be true, I'm definitely buying you a $12 beer. :)

this has to be true. the time he created this post was at 6:12 pm.....hence my birthday June 12th.......this has been my lucky number ever since I can remember......pops up constantly in my daily life......Muse, The Mars Volta, and Dredg are my 3 favorite bands......I have been wishing this would happen.....I really hope you right......This will happen!

Muse would be a perfect headliner for friday..... If Fatboy Slim doesn't close the Main stage....even though we all think he will be closing the Sahara......Im calling Muse closing Mainstage.

The Mars Volta is a perfect band for a saturday's sunset show on the outdoor stage.....nuff said.

if you go to the Consequence of sound website (the guy with the summer outlook festival page) there is an article that talks about Matt saying that MUSE will be doing one-offs this year, and working on a new album. could coachella be one of the one-offs?

sadly Jack Johnson is bigger than Muse so that would never happen. Now what should happen is Muse playing before Roger Waters talk about fucking epic!

this would be very strong adds, and would make me much more excited. but somehow I find it unlikely.

well The chili peppers are "BIGGER" than Tiesto. But what would happen if Muse played with Waters on an encore of Echoes/Run Like Hell?

Volta going on before Portishead would be so odd.
But that would be epic in my point of view!

I've always been a fan of the Volta, and Muse was awesome at Vegoose last year but ..both bands? Not likely, I don't think the additions are going to be as high profile.

These would be sweet though.

I think either Mars Volta or Muse would be a perfect fit before Roger Waters. It would be very pleased. Also, Mars Volta before Portishead would be odd, but I would love to see it.

I probably would need a Portishead show to mellow me out after an hour of TMV, I have to come down at some point that night.

Realistic Scenario?

This 23 year old guy hears a rumor about not just one, but both the Mars Volta as well as Muse being added to Coachella, from a friend, then takes it upon himself to join the Coachella message board post what he heard. Who is this guy?

Muse needs new material. They have a live DVD from the gigantic Wembley Stadium shows coming out just before Coachella, that'll be good enough. I'm calling them there for 2009, headlining the Friday night.

I think I am the only person that finds Muse to be extremely boring. I know, I know, I'm crazy; I'm just sayin. TMV would be killer, though. I just saw them lay down a three hour set in Irvine, and Coachella would serve as a nice little encore for me.

no problem, to me the mars volta is boring one song of 4 minutes on the album they play the same song for 3 hours in a gig :D

Doesn't sound realistic so I'm not holding my breath but it would be cool.

greghead - have you seen Muse live? Amazing and more climactic than in the studio.

hypervera - what song is 4 minutes on the cd? TMV's another amazing live band.

You know how most bands really lift the energy at the end of their set? One thing these 2 have in common is carrying that energy throughout most of the show - insane.

I have not, what do you recommend? I have heard some songs off "Absolution", which sounds kind of the Bends-era Radiohead, and then random other songs that I have heard here and there.

I dig your signature.

Matt Bellamy is busy making & cooking pasta from scratch at his home in Italy. heh heh

One of them will be for Teenage Cancer Trust benefit show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on April 12 (show already sold out) and the other one is probably at The Marlay Park in Ireland.

But we're not really touring this year, we're just doing sort of the odd gig here and there and I think that hopefully, one of the things we're gonna try and do is probably play a couple of new songs live, before we record them."
