Is 8pm too late to arrive and expect to get 3 camping spots placed next to each other? What's an ideal time to arrive?

If you arrive at 8pm on thursday you will be fine. We usual get in at like 1 or 2 am Friday morning and have always gotten like 5 spots next to each other.

The time you arrive is more or less irrelevant. The big thing is everyone in your party arriving together. If you do that its no worries.

Im planning on arriving around 12 noon. I want a spot close to the gates... but not to close the the Portapoties. I was in section C last time. It was perfect.

It seemed in '06 that the later people got there, the bigger the lines to ghetinto the camp were. Although the camping page says there will be more lines for check in this year... but that's not necessarily the same as the search point right?

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting in early myself, getting set up, and then bugging out until late evening. Go to the movies or something. My parents live in Lake Havasu, which is a couple hours closer to Indio. Maybe we'll go down Wednesday night and bunk with them.

Rage, are you flying or driving?

I just noticed the 10am campground opening. What will this change?? Last year at 4pm we arrived and had a nice spot not too far from showers and toilets..if we get there at 4pm this year will there be bad location issues?? Thoughts on what this will do?

is it first come first serve for picking camp "sites" or do they make people go in an follow a line of order?

my sister, god bless her, got my plane ticket and greyhound for me as a present, but she arranged it so that i would arrive at like 1 in the morning, i truly do not understand her train of thought sometimes

We're in the same boat. I live in California, but my boyfriend has to fly in Thursday night and so won't get in until late. There's a group of us going, we also need several spots together. Would it be better to try to set up in the middle of the night, or just wait until early Friday, do you think?

i've set up tents in the dark many many times before, its not so hard, as long as you have a flashlight, also, the tents now a days are very user-friendly and easy to set up regardless, i think you'll be fine, especially if you're a group
