View Full Version : Spoon Addition Possible

From Billboard.com:

"Spoon has been busy touring in support of 2007's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," having just returned from Australia and revving up to take on London and Lisbon at the end of this month. More U.S. dates are set for April, and a West Coast tour is slated for September."

They have had a huge year, so its pretty likely. The only questionable thing about that excerpt is how they differentiate between them touring in April and later touring on the West Coast in September, leading one to believe the April tour dates won't make it possible for them to come to Indio.

They are in Nashville the week before, for what it's worth.

didn't they play in '04?
or was it another year?

2005...didn't see them because they came on the same time as Coldplay...

You watched Coldplay instead? Ouch. I'm sorry, but Chris Martin pisses me right the fuck off. Spoon's set was alright that night, but nothing to rave over.

they played in '05.

I saw them at Little Radio in LA this summer. Amazing show, but it was hot as hell. Anyone else there? I'd love love love them to come to coachella.

I'm on and off with spoon. it makes me angry that when I saw them at lollapalooza in 2005, they didn't sell merch because they "don't support capitalism." that was dumb.

live they're okay, but nothing to rave about, I've found.

I'm surprised at myself that I missed them because I studied the '05 lineup...mainly because Cocteau Twins...

Thanks for the info though.

Spoon are one of my favorite bands, but they are seriously boring as hell live.

Ugh. That would be a lame addition.

i like spoon A LOT but they toured extensively in 2007 and touring Gax5 again this year would be overkill IMHO

I'm pretty sure they're gonna be on the east coast around Coachella time, so I think it's doubtful they'll be added.

they're good. i've seen them twice. at the sd 94.9 independence jam and at street scene, both last year. Like i said, they're good. they're not extraordinary, but i like their music.

They've been playing everything lately. Lollapalooza, Vodoo, entire country tour.

If they got added my reaction would be a definate meh.

A Tribe Called Quest, now there's an addition. Everyone seemed pumped they would be on the initial line up, but I haven't heard any talk about them since.

I went to that same show... It was my second time seeing Spoon (the previous time was seeing them after Mates of State, opening for Death Cab, probably one of my top 10 concert experiences of all time), but jesus christ it was like a different show... Pretty fucking boring, Britt seemed more like a cocky douchebag this time around, and he dicked around with his guitar way more than was necessary... [KoL and Interpol saved that show, IMO]

...Also I was extremely disappointed to find out that they perform the horn section parts of The Underdog ON KEYBOARD... What the fuck, that is some lame ass shit.

That, plus I really only like 4 songs off of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, so this addition would be a waste, IMO. Then again, seeing as we've added Kate Nash and Yeasayer, they'd fit right along with the theme of additions: utterly underwhelming.

I saw them open for death cab at the greek in 05. They played second and were very boring. But there music is alright. I would rather see mates of state who played at the dcfc concert as well first and were very good

Agreed. Mates of State are vastly underrated, even with the Boost Mobile commercial.

yes they did, cause like i said they're good.. but they weren't something else. KOL really did surprise me cause they really ROCK live.. i loved them.. and interpol.. well i just love interpol.. regardless of anything bad anyone can say about them.

I was at that 94/9 show. One of the best shows of 07. Don't forget The Aggrolites. Living things weren't bad either, and that was my first time seeing Grand Ole Party live. Wow, what a fest.

I can't really call it one of the best shows I saw last year... Seeing as personal issues pretty much fucking ruined that show... I need to see Interpol again without the emotional turmoil present at that damn show >>;;;

The Aggrolites should be added to Coachella this year.

seriously, I would love it so much. I put them in my pool list, because I was sure they would be there. One of the most fun shows out there

I've only seen Spoon do festival sets, twice. I would like to see them do a full headlining set on this next tour of theirs.

I only bought their CD for that "Dont You Evah" song. I seen them in San Francisco as part of the Not So Silent Night concert with Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Angels and Airwaves, and Modest Mouse.

They're great just not live. They sound good, not a great stage presence but not bad either I don't know there is just something missing I can't put my finger on.
