Originally, TheDaftRadioheadPunk said that B-52's were very likely. I was actually kinda surprised they weren't on the line up. I would LOVE to see them be added. I would say a late afternoon/early evening spot on the outdoor theatre on Sunday would be perfect.

Do they have anything new?

Just wondering why anyone would even think of it.

Because they are touring and they are fucking awesome.

Their addition sure as hell wouldn't make up for the loss of Madness, but it would sure get close. I have heard they are a TON of fun live.

They actually do have a new song out, and its been getting some play on Indie 103.1. This isn't that far out of a possibility, but I feel like bands like them are announced from the get go. In recent years, it seems any adds have been more current or have the "wow" factor.

I saw them in 2000 on a nostalgia tour with Psychedelic Furs and The Go Go's (yes, the tickets were free), and they were surprisingly the weak spot on the lineup.

Hopefully their shows have improved in the last eight years.

They could just play a one hour set of solid rock lobster and I'd be cool with that. B 52s rock the shit.

They have a new album out March 25. I was kind of surprised not to see them on the lineup.

Rock Lobster makes me hungry...

Creedence would be fucking AWESOME at coachella!!!

i'd pay 300 alone for a reunion...

or 150 for fogerty...

20 for a cover band...

10 for a DJ set of their stuff..

yeah, i'd pay that...

B-52's would be fun to check out....and I love Creedence, but sadly, once musicians are in their 60's, I have much less desire to see them perform live

They're touring with Cyndi Lauper this summer.

No Way. They have lost all cred. They are mostly playing bar mitzvahs and corporate retreats these days, basically embarassing themselves for a little green.

They are playing a venue which holds 1500 people here in Vancouver and it sold out a couple days after tickets went on sale. I don't know any Bar Mitvahs were 1500 people were invited.

Now that I would consider checking out! I missed that tour last year with Cyndi and Erasure.

I had tickets to a show in '06 called "Lost 80's Live"...Devo, A Flock Of Seagulls, Dramarama, Bow Wow Wow, When In Rome, and someone else awful...maybe Animotion. It got cancelled though...wound up going to Vegas to see Devo play by themselves a couple days later at a smaller venue for half the price, so I guess it worked out for the best.

Yanni and John Tesh can sell out 10,000 person venues, does that mean that they should play Coachella too?

The point is that the B-52s had a good schitck in the early 80s. I saw them in the early 90s and anything good they ever had going for them had pretty much evaporated by then. I can't even imagine how bad they are 15 years later. And, yes, they have played corporate retreats, conventions, and the like. Oh, and, yes, there are bar mitvahs with over a 1,000 people invited. The B-52s would have been a great addition to Coachella '82, not '08.

Weren't the B-52's rumored as an add last year as well?
I'd still very much enjoy seeing them added.

I saw the B-52's a few years ago and they rocked.

Question - name one band that sounds like the B-52's. In my opinion, that is the mark of a great band. They were unique, and nobody could do their sound any better.

how old is this band?

roberto73

Debut album in 1979. Although from Athens, GA, they were part of the late 70's scene at Max's Kansas City and CBGB's.

I was also hoping they might be playing this year, with the new album coming out in March. I saw them recently at the Roxy in L.A. and they were amazing... it'd be so cool to see them in front of a big Coachella crowd.

That's pretty painful. Why is Hallie Berry in there? I know I saw this, but it must have vanished from my mind.

I remember that my roommate and I were at a Toys R Us the summer this came out, and we were this close to assembling a Blue Velvet playset. There was a Kyle McLachlan action figure from Flintstones, a Laura Dern from Jurassic Park, and a Dennis Hopper from Super Mario Brothers. Too bad Isabella Rossalini never starred in any summer family blockbusters.
