I picked American Psycho, but I really loved him in Velvet Goldmine too. This is a hard fucking poll. I've seen all those movies except Empire of the Sun and I'm Not There (he was in that?).

He's awesome. best performance in American Psycho, but The Prestige has to be his best movie. (one of my all time faves)

All of the above movies are great, and Christian Bale is always a fantastic actor. I gotta say, though, that the "The Machinist" seems to be the biggest test of his acting abilities.

American Psycho is one of the greatest films ever... but he was also great in Rescue Dawn & I'm Not There (3:10 to Yuma was decent, but WAAAY overrated; "Best western since Unforgiven"?? give me a break, it was like the 4th or 5th best western of 2007 for crying out loud!)

i just watched this the other night. it was good up until the end. that ending was the stupidest shit, it pretty much ruined the movie for me.

have you guys ever read "American Psycho"?

Reading that in middle school blew me away. The movie didn't work as well as the book obviously, but Bale still rocked it. He was the perfect Bateman

I voted for The Machinist on the sole reason that the dude destroyed his entire being for that role.

Patrick Bateman was classic though

I havent seen American Psycho, so I voted for 3:10 to Yuma.

my vote isn't fully formed yet since i haven't seen half of these movies, but i'm going with Patrick Bateman so far. i was disappointed with the movie overall, but that's because i read the book three times in a row in high school. it left such an impression on me that a theatrical release with anything less than an nc-17 rating would leave me wanting more. but Christian Bale's performance was extremely worthy of the character.

Bret Easton Ellis fan completely, so how could I not vote Bateman. I love in Rules of Attraction (the movie) when Paul calls Sean, and he's like "Patrick?" "Who's Patrick?".. ohhhhh intertextuality

christian bale is a total fucking badass. most of these movies are pretty fucking good. as most have said its pretty hard to top his performance in american psycho.

im surprised people voted for equilibrium, i suppose he was the only good thing about that movie...and perhaps the puppy.

but i have to add, as a huge batman fanatic, i am a VERY HARSH judge of batman portrayals, and i think he killed it. he was my favorite batman so far.

Jim: We'll have to leave the camp.
Basie: That's the idea, Jim. First one side feeds you and the other side tries to get you killed, then it's turned around; it's all timing.

Basie: Jim, didn't I teach you anything?
Jim: Yes! You taught me that people will do anything for a potato.

Jamie: Help me, I'm British.

Oh yeah and that song Jamie 'sings' is brilliant.

Bale as Bateman was great, but i went with Bale as Trevor Reznik because it took Christian Bale to the limit. It put him up there with D-Day Lewis in my book, as far as method acting goes..o yeah, and Harsh Times is awesome

BTW: i peeped the latest Dark Knight trailer today when i saw Iron Man...wow! Bale looks great, but Heath looks sick as the Joker

i voted for American Psycho but really now..my favorite has to be
Laurel Canyon for 4 reasons:

Christian Bale
Kate Beckinsale
Alessandro Nivola
and Frances McDormand.

This movie was packed with eye candy!!!!

American Psycho is unbelievably overrated. How difficult is it to portray a sociopath ? I am going to have to say, not very.

This next Batman is going to be awesome.

I've only seen about 1/2 those movies, and I thought his performance in Rescue Dawn was the best of what I'd seen.
