Is it possible that GV isn't paying to have great headliners this year so they can put there best line-up together for Coachella 09' their 10th year anniversary. Or is it because they want to get better headliners for All Points West so they can build that festival up as big as Coachella.

A.T.P. will probably get Radiohead because in '07 we got RATM.
It was probably assumed the Rage reunion would hold us over.

Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Talking Heads...either one of these would be better than all those combined. All three? Fuhgedaboudit!

Since when is Kraftwerk/Portishead and Roger Waters not "real" headliners?

there is no holding back, its all about the bands and what their plans are.

They were headliners right up until they were announced as such. Now, they're 'subheadliner worthy'.

That's the way it seems anyway from reading the posts. I think Roger Waters is going to smack some people around with his show though.

Sad but true. :sorry

its only sad if it is absurd. coachella historically overpays bands.

the dominate reason remains what the bands' plans are. their world rarely revolves around april dates in indio, CA. i know its hard to absorb the bigger picture but there is one and its way bigger than coachella. :(

I dont think most of PF's answers are sarcastic. I just think we go so bat shit crazy crazy for the fest, and have our head's up our own asses about it, that her voice of reason mind fucks us...

i don't know about this thread. i certainly wouldn't say they're holding out on "real" headliners, but maybe shock value headliners??? i.e. Pulp or Talking Heads....it would make sense to me seeing that it's their tenth anniversary and they'd wanna do something massive.

Roger Waters is by no means a weak headliner

I actually believe that Portishead and Kraftwerk are great headliners as well. I know most people like them but just don't want them headlining, but I'm actually really excited about them getting headlining spots (longer sets from both)!

I'm looking forward to both as well....I can just understand how people would think Portis\KW are lower level headliners...but the man responsible for most of Pink Floyd's catalogue??? come on!!!
