that made me think of Fox news....

Heh, the other one I was going to use was "what say you?"

Faux News heh. They are funny on that network.

Anyway, i'm really diggin the MGMT album. The national "boxer" is damn good as well. I think MGMT edges out the National but it's just barely. These are 2 huge acts i'm looking forward too. This MGMT is better than GASP the Arcade Fire and don't get me wrong I love them too but this album is really blowing me away.

Depending on how good they perform live, I think MGMT win over a lot of people at Coachella. I enjoyed most of the songs off they're new album.

It's just so fucking solid. I love the lyrics. I dig a new song each day better than the previous. Now i'm onto weekend wars.

I voted for MGMT by a hair though. I think both bands are great. I'm happy that they are playing on different days so no chance of a time conflict.

Very excited for both bands. I think MGMT in a tent with a packed, crazy crowd will be more enjoyable to me, though.

MGMT is the Depeche Mode rip off right?

Nope. They do have a retro 70's sound to them.

Why are these two bands being compared? Just curious...

I have no idea. Maybe because The National is given far too much sucking of its cock by this board?

MGMT.. I haven't heard too much of them, but I really like their single, so it's convinced me to see them at Coachella..

I'm a fan of both, but Boxer was one of my favorites in '07. However, I'm really starting to get into the new MGMT album.

MGMT has only put out one album...and the national has put out 4, all of which are good

i was wondering the same. one band is upbeat, unique, and creative, while the other one just puts me to sleep.

The National. I love Alligator, and they were amazing when I saw them in 05.

Oracular Spectacular is good (not great), but I haven't seen them live yet.

I plan on seeing both, but I have seen the National a few times and have never been disappointed. My mind MIGHT be changed after I see them both at Coachella, but I doubt it. The National have spent a few years earning a place in my heart, while I just started listening to MGMT.

Current vote: The National.

I'm really digging MGMT. So far they are my favorite discovery from this year's lineup.

Wow. and I thought the results of the KoL v Tool poll on the Lollaboard was sad.

I'll be the first to admit in retrospect that my posts in this thread are awful.

This isn't even a contest. The National are far superior. Also, I claimed MGMT are better than the Arcade Fire.

I completely failed.

In the future don't gravedig, this is just a friendly tip, and also you're wrong. MGMT are super catchy but pretty lame live, and the National can absolutely kill it live.

I'm guessing that if you take a snapshot of this poll over the last 6 months, The National would be winning. They have more staying power.

Yeah its funny... you'd think MGMT would just be a fucking party live. Not really though, the musicians they have on board aren't the same guys who play on the album and they don't do justice to the sound on the album.
