Is Bowie camp like Boy Scout camp only with better music?

At the Boy Scout camps I went to, they always made us sing shit like "Kumbaya" and "Ghost Chickens In The Sky".

LiKeBuTtAh, you're an idiot.

Don't kid us about this one. Some of us have never seen Bowie live and, the way things look, may never see him. Bowie would cause an instant sell out.

To people who have not seen Bowie, to those who grew up on him, and to those like myself who got lucky and saw him when we were in Late High School/ Early College when he went on tour in '03 - '04, Bowie at Coachella would be undescribable, i think that listening to "Heroes" live in that Coachella atmosphere would change the fucking world but it would be like bringing Daft Punk back and expecting them to do what they did in '06 again and better, people are having there hopes built to high that if it does happen we expect too much, sooo even if this is true can we please go for coachella and not for the strength of the line-up

Why are we talking about Bowie? He is a Corporation (Capital "C") unto himself!! If he plays, great: more money for his yachts and turntables. If he doesn't, we'll always have Jack Johnson, who has more talent in his entire body than one of Bowie's handlers has in his left shoe. If Bowie were to go up against Portishead, I would say Portishead has more class in their entire tour bus than Bowie has in his pinkie finger. Think about it, for godsakes. I need this. I love david bowie, but I think his time doing live performances have really passed. I saw the video of the Isle of Wight Festival on MTV HD not long ago and I was really disappointed and bored by bowie because he was so stiff. I mean hes an old guy now at the age of 61 so he doesn't move or perform like he used to. He still has great vocals, but he has a weak heart. I think it would be awesome if he did play, but I wouldn't expect the great performance that everyone is hoping for. Think of bands like depeche mode that still play live and kinda of lack the stage presence the once did.

What's with the reverence for Bowie? It seems everyone in these threads loves Bowie, but a bunch of threads say Roger Waters is too old for Coachella, blah, blah, blah. They're about the same age, why the extra love for Dave.

For the record I've seen Bowie 4 times (through a few of his ch, ch, changes) and Waters twice, and although Bowie was good, Waters was better...

i think it's because he never tours, so it's a little more sought after than a roger waters performance. i'd personally much rather see bowie live than waters.

Bowie is one of my HEROES and it would be amazing! Seen him years past, even in the Tin Machine incarnation, But I really don't know how the Bowie thinking for this years Coachella got started, LOL, I remember last year when some DJ on Indie said that the Police were scheduled to play, the closest we got to hearing the police was in the techno tent, I think it was Beni Benassi who was using samples of 'King Of Pain', it was soooo good, anyone else hear that one ..."there's a little black spot on the sun today"
Maybe Fatboy Slim will sample "Space Oddity"

It could happen!

Bowie would be a great addition...but when you had hopes of seeing Prodigy, since it was on their record labels myspace, and Madness who were actually on the poster...you're let down and not even Bowie cant make me forget that.

David Bowie is incredible live - and we'd all be lucky to be graced by his sweet sweet presence.

So for anyone who has said otherwise - eff you - do NOT take the lord's name in vain.

That being said, he won't be playing Coachella.

Uh...Jack Johnson has more talent than Bowie?! Seriously...have you ever listened to a Bowie record BEFORE "Let's Dance"? I mean, really.

I was lucky enough to see two of the "Five Boroughs in Five nights" mini-tour in 2002 (Bronx and Staten Island). Bowie is in the top 5 of charismatic performers we'll ever have. You Jack Johnson fans would never forgive Bowie for making you realise how bad JJ looks before the likes of Mr. Bowie.

Really...more talent in their pinkies than Bowie? Go download Scary Monsters, or Lodger, or Low and come back to me and tell me about that boring bullshit that Jack Johnson plays (I love Portishead, but c'mon). Yeah, I know, Jack is so dreamy. If I want to listen to that crap I'll put on old Cat Stevens, James Taylor, or Paul Simon records. They at least knew how to craft an entire song.

You probably think Waters, L&R and Kraftwerk are gonna be terrible too. Oy.

Sorry, don't usually post, but seriously. I suppose Jack Johnson has more talent in his left testicle than Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Frank Zappa and Lowell George combined. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

On a side note...how cool would a Cibo Matto reunion be?
