nice to see someone's got some of the same stuff in mind.

but how is it that so many people have never heard of shpongle?!
they are, far and above, the best ambient trance act ever.
they really have their own genre, it's stupid of me to even try to classify them
simon posford (aka hallucinogen) and raja ram (originally the flautist in 'quintessence', a psychedelic rock bands in the 60s) began collaborating on electronic, world-music influenced works after a trip together to the goa region of india.

this is one of their first attempts at a live act.
posfrd's the man at the mixer(s). raja's the crazy guy in the hat running around.

-PF, I'm surprised you don't know mister smith! he's the mc on 'all alone' on demon days. here's a good song- almost trip hop, with splashes of grime and dub

-ditto, but they ARE a socal band.
-no opinion on gang of four? hm. I'm pretty sure you MUST have heard of them, so what's the dilly-o? just feel like they're played out?

jah, QOTS I never felt strongly about one way or another but my GF might actually go if they played. Metalica and Offspring are much more Warped Tour/Inland Invasion type bands, don't know much about Gang of Four but if people are so into em' would probably be pretty cool to check out, and Aphex Twin I don't know much about, seem hardcore. Would industrial bands work ?

Nick decked someone in the audience who showed up at an early Bad Seeds concert in a BP tee shirt.

Maybe he has mellowed in the intervening years.

Wow really? I would like to think something else set him off rather than just a t shirt with his old band's monicker, but I guess ya never know.

I truly loved Nick's stuff with Blixa so when I saw him last year (with Spiritualized and Cat Power) I did not have my expectations high. I was wrong- UNBELIEVABLE performance! I'd burn a city to the ground just to hear We Call Upon the Author live again. And the grind of Tupelo one more time... I'm Tupelo bound!!
