OH look who decided to join the 21st century. I use Azureus. You can use my Dime account if you like to check out some hot sets.

What works well with Oink? I had a program that worked and then I updated it and it stopped.

I use azureus as well, the last time I let someone I met off a forum use my dime account they changed the password on me, essentially stealing my account. (Not like I wouldnt have let them use it after) Took a bit of waiting to get another account, those of you familiar with dime will know what im talking about, sigh some people are so ridiculously stupid.

Forwarding a port is an incredibly simple process. What you are is a laggard and a coward.

Steve,

You probably just need to open up a port that forwards the torrent traffict to your computer.

you can read a simple step by step guide to port forwarding here:
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Let me know if you have any questions, i am a computer geek.

yea i used to use bitcomet too and it kind of sucked.
the previous version of utorrent also was not very strong but it has improved dramatically.
also worthy of noting, bitcomet is banned by OiNK.

Okay so I use uTorrent now. But my upload speeds are really really slow. Adam suggested checking my port, which I did, and it said there was an issue. My firewall is allowing the program to run, so Adam suggested it might be the school firewall or something. Any idea on how to fix this problem?

I think you need a good friend that works in your school's IT networking department. Apart from that, you're probably screwed. But I don't know what I'm talking about. Your school doesn't want you to be snagging mp3s on their network. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and stop taking advantage of the system, Andrew.

Just asking a question, not for anything specific. So neither I guess.

If you're trying to hit a torrent off the school network you SHOULD be having a hard time, otherwise the IT crew isn't doing their job. And yeah, you basically need to find out what one port might be open that you could use--make friends with one of the hired geeks.

I just use the Bittorrent client after having a pain in the ass with both Azureus and Utorrent after a while. I also ditched my old router for a new one because Linksys started putting out shit products a while ago.

i guess the school either set up a firewall or throttles the service?
my ISP throttles the connection and i have to subscribe to this VPN software thing. it increases my dl and ul speed so much.
