THE NATIONAL / MODEST MOUSE / R.E.M. will be playing a date at The Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles) on May 29th, 2008. The National is already on Coachella 2008's bill for Friday night. Modest Mouse and R.E.M. are still free the last weekend in April, as far as I know. Com'on, Paul T., make it happen. Add R.E.M. and Modest Mouse to Friday, April 25th. Here, I'll make it easy for ya: contact Buck Williams at The Progressive Global Agency phone 615-354-9100. Friday night needs some serious beefing-up. Since The National is already on Coachella's bill, maybe you could work out some kind of a "package deal" to add Modest Mouse & R.E.M. Just sayin'.........

If REM was playing Coachella, it would have been anounced already...just sayin'

It will be an awesome show, but R.E.M. should be playing Coachella instead of the Hollywood Bowl. Jack Johnson? Sigh.

But yeah, tickets for this show are going to be as expensive as a day of Coachella. Weren't tickets for their 2003 show $45-75? I don't have my ticket stub nearby...

I swear, it just seemed so logical for REM to headline this year...I wonder what happened?

Yeah, R.E.M. seemed like a natural headliner for Coachella 2008 to me, too, especially with a new studio album coming on April 1st. If enough people pressured Golden Voice, maybe they'd cave--especially if ticket sales are slow. I betcha R.E.M. would still do it. They're doing some U.S. dates in March, nothing in April yet, then starting the official U.S./Europe tour in May.

at this point...if they did need a boost for ticket sales...REM would not be the band to do it...especially consider the HB date...

That sounds like a great show....you know, except for the Modest Mouse part

i have to assume that GV already looked into getting REM as a headliner, so i doubt that something would change and they would add them to the lineup at this point.

I have it on pretty good authority that R.E.M. haven't even been asked to Coachella--yet.

Modest Mouse sounds like a likely addition however.

If this is true, then Paul Tollett must be smoking crack if he asked Frat Johnson instead of R.E.M.

I read a article in the NYtimes that listed JJ as "Frat Boy Favorite Jack Johnson to headline Coachella" and it made me hate him even more...
