How much of the 8' x 8' camping spot is usable? If I take up the full 64 sq ft, am I going to be blocking someone's door or anything? Thanks in advance.

Wheres the beef?

The full 8x8 space is usable. How you set your tent up is something you will have to work out with your neighbors. You can go beyond the 8x8 as long as you aren't encroaching into the walkway too much. Someone might come by and tell you to move your tent but usually they will just walk away and you can go about your business. By the end of the first day everything is so out of control with the camping there isnt much they can do.

Take it all up. there are isles to face your door at if you want. last year we had 5 spots together and set up 4 tents plus a big shade tent to chill (sort of) under during the blazing hot mornings. we had a big air bed under that for the fifth guy plus chairs, coolers and a card table. We fit it all in pretty well and that was with the 7x7 spots.

Didn't camp onsite last year but i am going to this year. if you have group of people you get more space, but is the field sectioned off in 8' x 8' lots? There are three of us so 64 sqft. x 3 = 192sq ft. therefore about a 14 x 14 lot? does this make sense? or is just three adjacent 8x8 lots, cause we have good sized tent that is 10x12 (i think).

Three adjacents. Better find a fourth person, or that tent wont work. It'll be 2 feet into someone elses square.

3 people would get either an 8 x 24 space, or an L shaped space that's 16 on each side, but with the corner knocked out. 4 people get 16 x 16.

And the lines are marked out with field chalk stuff.

Last year, they (the "camp counselors") were way way chill about it. My friend and I had a tent that was a bit bigger than the space we were alloted. So we got 2 spaces and then they put a guy who was camping alone right next to us in another 2 spaces.... so 3 people and 4 spaces. It worked out perfect.

A few other groups of 3 near me were alloted 4 spaces by the "camp counselors".

Don't count on it... but that is my experience.

Plus, you can totally count on you neighbors being friendly and helpful. Beer, water, trail mix, ice and other things were shared amongst my neighbors and I.

That is a very good, helpful diagram. Thumbs up.

Also thumbs up for living in San Luis Obispo. I was just saying the other day that I would like to run away to Cambria. It's so pretty up there.

Cambria used to have this amazing restaurant that served aebleskivers, but sadly it is no longer.

They should have a limited number of rows made for people with 2 or 3 people in their group. Maybe 11 x 11 for 2 and 13 x 13 for 3. A square space is more useful than a long rectangle or an L-shape. And it would even make a little more room...an 11 x 11 space is 7 Sq Ft less than 2 8x8s and a 13 x 13 is 23 SqFt smaller than 3 8x8s.

Yeah, that would be awesome to have sections for larger groups. We had at least 7 in our camp set up and will have more this year.
