just a question: how will you guys manage to come and go from resort to festival everyday?

Just asking because I'm coming with a friend from Brasil and we're having a bad time trying to find where to stay. We would like to stay at a good and confortable place (and we really need a time to write and work too) but at the same time we are scared of how to get to the festival everyday - we are both journalists and don't want to miss anything.

If you're just looking for a ride, I'll be more than down to hook you up. I'll have plenty of room as I'm driving down there solo from Reno. I'm hitting up all 3 days, and I usually show up on the grounds pretty early every day.

Anyways it is only 2 of us right now, might have a 3rd so we would be down to rent the other room plus more as we are allowed to have up to 8 ppl. Ill update this thread in about 3 weeks or so, im glad this part is over now off to Glasshouse today to get the tix.

I still have a 2 bedroom condo at this resort booked, which is vacant and available for rent. This condo sleeps six very comfortably and includes all the amenities of the resort. Depending how many people stay and split the costs you are only looking at no more than $83 a night for 6 persons. This is a hell of a deal and only a few miles from the venue. Inquire if you are interested.

We are staying here too. I know, I know, we weren't planning on going cause I am not diggin' the headliners. But someone else on the boards posted about how this is a chance to see some new stuff, and I remember how much fun I had checkin' out !!! and Teddybears last year (hadn't ever been exposed to either of those bands) so I thought, WTH, might as well give it a go. We have a 2 br and I think we have 5 of us going, so it will be tight, but fun! Maybe we can meet up at the pool?

YO,

My good friend, (the lovely eNVyartist) and I will be arriving into town around 9-10p Thurs. the 24th, and obviously we're staying here.

If any one of our fellow neighbors is down, we'd most definitely be cool with hanging out to down a few. I'll be stocking up the room to the gills and planning many an after-hour party during the weekend.

Just hit me up, send me a PM and we could exchange numbers or whatever.

Otherwise, I'll be seeing you'all at the pool!

Yup, I'm staying there too. I'm excited cause it's not too far from the Polo Grounds; not walking distance but still close. The first year I went to Coachella, I stayed in Palm Springs, cause I thought it was close. But it's a 20+ minute drive plus with traffic it took over an hour to get there that year. The following year I stayed in Coachella, not to far from the Polo Fields but it was a gross motel.

I'm looking forward to using the pool, cause it can get warm down there this time of year.

btw. if anyone's interested, I have an extra room with twin beds that I'm renting out.

Lets get this a little organized. Everyone staying at the resort that wants to play host to or attend any sort of pre or post Coachella parties, lets all meet somewhere at the resort on Friday night after Coachella (April 25th). I can't be there Thursday unfortunately due to expenses and financial limitations.

So someone familiar with the property should come up with a good meeting place and time (in the PM after Coachella on Friday the 25th). I know I want to chill with you all, so I'll be there...whenever and where we decide.

punkgirl
04-19-2008, 02:25 PM
sorry it has taken me so long to respond! We do, indeed have bowling, so it is on! We know the property well, we should pick a time and meet at the covered area by the main pool. We are up for hosting, but we need maybe two or three more rooms to host as well, to sorta share the expense of booze, etc. I will gladly be ring leader -pm me some how to contact u (txt MSG, whatever) and I will start getting stuff in order! Viva coachella!

I think this is where we're staying this year. Some questions for the heads that have stayed there in the past:

Does the 2 bedroom condo have a balcony/patio? If so, how large is it? Is there some kind of barbeque grill?

Would you say the 2 bedroom condo is roomy enough for 7 people? And two bathrooms, right?

THANKS.

punkgirl
04-20-2008, 05:57 PM
ok, some answers. Yes, the two bedroom has a balcony and each unit has a grill. The balcony is pretty good size, but there is a large round table and chairs that takes up most of it. 7 is all u can hold, and it will be tight unless three of you share the king in the master....do I hear threesome, anyone? I kid, I kid... Your config should look something like this 2 in master, 2 in bedroom 2, 2 on pull out in living room and 1 on the couch. There are two potties and a full kitchen. The property grounds also sport some grill areas that rock. Hope that helps! We are planning a wii tourney, so u should definitely join!

There is a total of 11 of us (2 rooms).

Staying here too! Very excited. The 2 bedroom says its only for 6 people, but I will have 7. You think that will be a big deal?

04-21-2008, 08:32 PM
I think the sleeping arrangements will be fine for 7, I dunno though, cus I've never been there before. Maybe they bend the rules a bit for coachella weekend knowing that there are gonna be a ton of people there with the purpose to party. But maybe that is wishful thinking. Cus I know if I had a room by the pool, and there were people on god knows what/drunk making noise I might be mad if I were not there for the festival weekend I might be pissed.

Well, someone is renting me a 2 bedroom place there for around $650. I think it's a good deal and we're 6. I'm just not sure how to proceed and do the whole arrangement/deal with the person that's gonna rent it to me.

I just booked a two bedroom suite (1 king, 2 twins, and a bed that comes down from the wall in the living room) there for $259 a night for 4 nights. I called them directly at the number on their website and then they transferred me to their "non-member" reservation place. I'd honestly just call them directly, but that's coming from someone who doesn't trust random people.

Dylanja - just call them. 760-342-1040 is the front desk number at the worldmark in Indio.

This will be our 3rd year staying at Worldmark. The whole place is amazing. We are staying in a 4 BR Presidential Suite, and we have 8 people in total. It is quite close to the festival grounds (less than 10 miles), so there are plenty of people to catch rides with. The best part about this place is the AC. Imagine all the poor fuckers roasting in their tents at the campground as you crack a cold brew right from the fridge and enjoy some hot dogs and burgers from the private grill.

I'm staying at the worldmark and hope to be going to the filter pre-party on Thursday night (if I ever get the info).

For those that have stayed there in the past during Coachella, how is parking? I know that I can get a pass for my car, but I have some people meeting me there and want to make sure there is enough parking on the street or surrounding area.

Should be fun!

See you guys there.

Hey, how many parking spaces are there per room???'

gmoneyak

I think it's two spaces max.. There weren't assigned, you just had to get a placard from the security gate ,if memory serves. It would seem that you could talk them into letting a guest bring their car in for the night.

It's beginning to look like the Filter Coachella Kickoff Party is going to be a bust this year, as it is going the more "exclusive" route. If that truly is the case, I think we should just organize a Thursday night party of our own here at the resort...

I'll be coming in that afternoon with my gf and a buddy from Alaska.

With the apparent number of Coachella attendees staying here, and the dozen or so that have posted on this thread already, I don't see why we can't join resources and get this party poppin'.

The 1st order of business would be finding a room we could all convene at. I would offer my place to host the party myself, but I only snagged a 1 bedroom this year. I just don't think it would be spacious enough. If need be, we could make it happen there, but honestly, I'd like to see if someone would hook it up with a bigger place.

We'll be bringing down plenty of booze and other party favors to share.

Give me a PM if interested, have any suggestions/ideas, etc.. Or if you just want to exchange numbers and info.

Let's do this..

Thanks for the pics, was worried about the place until I saw the photos. Staying solo in a 1 bedroom, and driving to the grounds with room for carpoolers. See ya there!

I can't believe I haven't posted here yet! Greg, r u the same Greg from last year from NV? If so I think our group met up with you a few times. In any case, we are totally staying again this year. Have a few more folks in tow this year - group keeps right on growing. I can't speak for everyone, but I am sure we will dig partying it up on Thursday night. We aren't getting in till around 7pm or so, but we have about 6 or 7 of us that are coming in at the same time. PM me if anyone is interested in meeting up!

Yep, back once again.

PM your # once again and I'll send you a text when we check-in. If the Filter Party falls through, I'd really like to get something started here this year.

See you Thursday..

I wonder if it is like the world mark less than a mile from my house, which is pretty much just a condo complex with the worldmark name slapped onto it.

EDIT: damn, nevermind, it looks nicer, and possibly twice as big.

I stayed at the worldmark last year and will be staying there again this year. It is a very nice, and very large resort.

There is a golf course on site too if you are into that.

world mark is pretty amazing! it's mellow, but the lazy river is AWESOME =) transportation to and from isn't too bad... i stayed there last year and am staying there again this year =) there's a fresh and easy nearby so it's really easy to stock up your kitchen with food and booze! when are you getting in?

for people who stayed at worldmark in previous years, was it hard to get transportation from the resort to the festival? considering they have about 1500 people staying there for coachella, what would be my best option? our group will not be in good shape to drive..

Anyone got space for one more here weekend 1? A friend has had his place fall through last minute. Sofa space is fine. Happy to pay up to $250.

Sorry my room is all full.

If there are more people down we should consider renting a shuttle to take us to and from the venue. Just an idea. Let me know if anyone is down.

I called the worldmark yesterday and they said they they get in a contractor company in to do shuttle runs all day for guests you just pay them direct per trip. Can anyone else who has stayed at worldmark before say if the service is any good?
