im a HUGE Daft Punk fan.. and If they get added..ill straight up fucking die of orgasm overdose.

what do you think the chances are theyll get added? I know theyve come to the states for just one show before (miami in November for instance)..and ive heard their name kicked around this board as a possibility.

No chance at all. They performed last year.

i know they did. Ive seen the footage..and its insane.

*sigh* im not giving up hope on this one yet.

edit: bloc party played in 2005 AND 2006... so.. killer bands from europe DO play two years in a row.

I dont understand why people want Chemical Brothers to appear every frigging year, yet a repeat Daft Punk performance is an impossibility.

Last year was something else. I feel sorry for anyone who went to Depeche Mode.

But Bloc Party also does a lot more touring than Daft Punk does.

Daft punk is supposedly playing more shows in 2007, on in Paris is already confirmed, so maybe hope for another North American show isn't lost?

If Daft Punk plays in Coachella, I'm gonna get down with any hot boys next to me in the audience :)

Even if Daft Punk were to play Coachella this year -- which they won't :nono -- they've told their reps they'll never again do a set the way they did it at Coachella and other locations in '06. Never. You can all officially consider that a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Do you know specifically their reasons for not wanting to do a performance with that kind of production?

Daft Punk's 2007 tour will be an all new spectacle. Why do the same thing when they are quite capable of blowing minds in an all new way?

Not offhand... I'd have to ask my editor...

cause it'd be stupid to just continually do the same set over and over - they are a DJ act after all...

I have seen them play 3 times and each time it was different and mind blowing. If/when they play again, it will be different and mind blowing.

Last year was something else. I feel sorry for anyone who went to Depeche Mode.

I watched the first half of Depeche Mode, swung by She Wants Revenge long enough to confirm they sucked live, then hauled ass down to Daft Punk. I completely agree...was soooo glad I didn't stick around for all of Depeche Mode or SWR.

Haha, is that a hint? I think considering the buzz their set created last year, if there was any way GV could get Daft Punk back, they would. And I would watch them. Although I do really hope they do some non-festival shows in the U.S. as well.

I heard they are doing one of those KCRW world festival gigs at the Hollywood Bowl this summer...sure hope that's true.

Great, then the crowd will be full of drunk KCRW assholes who are only there to get massively drunk on wine, picnic, and talk loudly over the music.
NO HOLLYWOOD BOWL FOR DAFT PUNK PLEASE! They deserve better!

noisemachine
01-30-2007, 08:57 AM
Daft Punk would not be good at the Hollywood Bowl. They need to play at a more "danceable" venue.

I fucking hate that. These drunk bitches kept talking during TV On The Radio and Massive Attack last summer.

God, I hope so. I know, I know not likely ... they played last year. But there were so many of us who couldn't make it there or to Miami. This year I have the funds to go, so I'd love to see them.

Daft created so much of a buzz ... you want to sell out Friday, add Daft Punk. For those of you who saw them last year, you can just go see someone else then (but I'd bet you'd be there again!) :thu

But you know what else would be fun PF, if they came back this year :winkiss

i live in miami i saw them twice!
still though it was the same exact set. yeah. i'd want to see them dj or do something else in their 'live performance' but not the same thing. i have that burned in my mind from it being all crazy funky and all.

when ever they do a live performance its just a remix of their songs, i want to see them do a real dj set liek they used to a couple years back that would be dope. The live performances are pre wired as all the big names are doing now adays.

Having Daft Punk perform at Coachella again would completely ruin last year.

I hope they never play Coachella again. EVER.

Like I've said before, many of us were not able to make last year's Coachella or Bang to see them for various reasons. So no need to say "screw you guys."

I agree, it isn't likely they'll come back ... but if they do, you can just go see someone else at that time. No need to be a selfish little biatch about it.

another idiotic comment by an idiot. how in the world would daft punk performing again ruin last year? are you such a prick that you feel all better about yourself by being able to tell people you were among the only few to have seen DP at their only coachella appearance?

they're playing in France, and there's rumors of them doing festivals in Scotland, and Serbia. So maybe another full on 2007 tour. These guys seem to have had a pretty good time last year and want to do it all over again! (hopefully)

The United Nations defines the desire not to share the divinity of Daft Punk with others as insulting Daft Punk.

It should be mentioned that Donald Fagen of Steely Dan is depressed because he insulted Daft Punk.

I hope they play again!!! I saw them last year and they were mind blowing. I thought they were the best band live until i saw Unwritten Law 2 weeks ago. Hopefully they get added so i can see them and they can be better than Unwritten Law.

They played at the same time Depeche Mode played? Ah! I would ripped my hair out over that decision. Sounds like Daft Punk was for sure the right choice.
It would be amazing if they get added this year.

They confirmed over the weekend they'll headline the Rock Ness festival in Scotland on the 10th/11th June. Chemical Brothers have the other headline slot apparently. Just in case anyone feels like making the journey.

It's Fatboy Slim who is organising the event, so I'm hoping for a few other good additions. Would love to see them added on the Saturday night at some point though. Not much there that I fancy or haven't already seen.
