Me and my 2 friends are going to Coachella again this year. The last times we went we had parents come with us and help us rent hotels and stuff, but this year we're going alone. We're all 17 but I'm hoping they'll still give us a room. We already reserved one, so that's taken care of, but I'm just wondering if anybody else has run into this situation before and how they handled it.

I'm 17 as well, not sure how I'm gonna deal with this. I rented a room too. The hotel's website says you need a 21+ year old for check-in, so I'm gonna try and find someone to do that for me.

It's like Red Roof Inn for young people.

oh geebus. i'm not touching this with a 10-foot poll. 17yr olds! that's children in my book. and you're trying to rent a room. that's illegal for the hotel i believe.

god, now i feel real old.

just sleep in your car or wander around a neighborhood until you find someone willing to give you a room.

Are your parents letting you go alone? How do they expect you to find a place to sleep?

You'll need an ID to check into the hotel, and I don't know of any chains that allow < 18 year olds to rent rooms. I think others have mentioned that some of the offsite camping allows minors?

Well, my plan is to do one of 3 things
First, act like I didn't know it was illegal and hope they sympathize for me.
If that fails, then I'll go get my 19 year old brother (camping) and hope that they'll let him check us in.
If that fails too, just slip them a 20 or something and hope they're down with that.

And I just realized if we get the room, I can invite girls back this year. Last year I had to get my pank in the back seat of my dads car with him driving us to hotel.

Dude if you can get a room I'll chip in cause sleeping in my car isn't sounding so great.
