Tickets, camping passes, and snacks/water that i'll bring in myself excluded: how much cash should i bring for the three days? this would most likely be for meals, a little band merch, weed etc. i was thinking about $50 per day might suffice?

double that to be safe. You're going to spend ~$20 on water and maybe the same again for food. Tour tees are ~$25 and up.

-edit- iirc, the merch stalls take cc's.

I say $400. And that's if you're playing it cheap.

There's no way you'd get merch + water + food on $50/day. I think I spent close to $20/day just on water+gatorade, maybe another $10-20 on food, and as pointed out, merch takes credit.

*edit* I only had one beer all weekend so bring more if you plan on spending time in the beer gardens

You wont need more then 40 bucks a day on food and drank.
if you want beer add more accordingly
if you want merch shirts were about 25-35 a day so how much ever you want.
I don't no what you do with 400 dollars guys.

$50 a day would be your water budget alone. I took $400 for the entire weekend.

I only spent $4000 on beer last year but you should bring 5 or 6 thousand just incase you run out cause you never want to be sober at coachella

80-100 a day.

I bring $300 for the whole weekend. That covers anything I need while in Indio.

Seconded.

You can be comfortable on $300.

Can't go crazy and splurge but a t-shirt or two is realistic.

I had about 200 bucks that weekend.
And it lasted.

Or maybe that was because I didn't buy any merchandise

$300/350 - you are gonna wanna some merch - it is usually awesome.

I had $40 a day for food
I had $20 a day for water gatorade
I had $30 a day for merch
I had another $20-30 for stuff I bought to and from festival

I always had a little left over (not much)

hmm, come to think of it, when i went in 06 i bought a franz ferdinand shirt and their debut album on vinyl, that was so they can sign it

major highlight!!!

Isn't there only one official merchandise stand that sells all the band t-shirts and Coachella posters and such? I'm pretty sure there's only one, and it takes credit card.

There are other vendors that sell sunglasses and non-Coachella brand apparel and stuff; I guess some of them could be cash-only. The food and drinks are definitely cash only.

But don't stress out about it too much; as Dani pointed out above, there are always the ATMs.

you are correct.

and yes, it's more like $100 a day you spend on stuff. and booze. not too much though, else you get to drunk and die in the heat..

geez...I wish I could function on 50 per day...last year, I took $1200 for the weekend for me and my g/f....not including tix or hotel. I came back home with 100. This year I plan on taking at least the same amount. I figure about $100 each per day on booze....that's 600 in booze alone for the weekend (2 people), conservatively (at $7 a beer, that's only about 12 drinks per day, tip included)...not to mention shirts/food/stuff...oh, and did I mention gambling the Thursday before??

Depends if you are talking just during the day at the show or total cash? Not to be to pickey on it but i think I took $300 last year and probably spent $275 at the show alone between water, food, beer, and merch but I also ate breakfast at the hotel in the morning and we ate lunch before getting to the show.

Also, to save money on water last year, I got a camelback that was also a backpack, and just put the dispensing straw inside of it in the back pocket, then just refilled it at the water fountain all day long. Its worth a shot, and if they happen to find the bladder and give you shit, toss it out, those things aren't too cheap to replace. A guard even saw it one day and didn't mind one bit. We gotta drink water ya know. Coachella is the only festival Ive ever been to to flat out say NO Camelbacks, but IMO that is just down-right ridiculous. At least say empty ones.

$50/day should be more than enough unless you plan on getting hammered at coachella.

I brought $300 in the past when it was a 2-day fest and maybe had a little bit left over at the end. That covered water, food, merch (shirts and the occasional cd at the tower store) - had a couple cocktails at the clubhouse the night before the festival. Only had water from that point on, I think drinking beer in that kind of heat is just silly, and I hate beer anyway. Keep in mind this also accounted for cab rides to and from LAX/Greyhound Station and Greyhound Station/Empire Polo Field. I think $100 per day is probably a decent amount for most people. It all depends on how much $7 beer and $30+ shirts you feel like buying. Water's only $2 but you will go through it relatively quickly, at least until the sun finally goes down. The 10-for-1 option sounds nice but honestly, unless you plan on doing absolutely nothing but looking for empty bottles all day long, it's not going to save you that much cash.

How much are the t-shirts that have the festival lineup on the front?

02-02-2008, 12:33 PM
bring your own food and eat before and after each day, and then set aside 15-20 for food per day. bring your own water, and i'd say bring like 100 for merch, it'll get you at least 3 t-shirts and maybe a poster or something fun like that.

Bring a piece of cardboard with a convincing story and you won't need to bring any money.

I brought $100/day + $100 for incidentals then used my debit card in the Virgin Megastore tent. Found some good deals there, esp. on the Bjork Dualdisc Boxset.

Based on past years

15.00 Breakfast at Dennis (in the corner, plus they have a restroom :)
10.00 Six Pack before go in
15.00 Lunch (w/soda)
16.00 2 Beers w/ 2 tip
12.00 Water and Frozen Lemonade
15.00 Dinner
16.00 2 Beers

99.00 /day - Beer budget may vary from 16.00 - 150.00 depending on the mood, company, bands playing, heat, so I'm taking at least $400 for the weekend.

For the merchandise I usually buy it from Coachella Online Store, I think it's cheaper and I definetely don't want to be carrying it around.

Last year I brought $200 but came home with $25 leftover. But that $175 included gas, in n out, cheap kwikemart sunglasses. Somehow I spent more in previous years.

I forgot how much I spent in 2006 and last year. But definitely I brought at least $400 cash every time I go to any festival.

* I bought and drank more water per day in 2007 than 2006.

* I used cc for merch (I always buy official or any cool looking Coachella shirt) and spent some leftover $$$ at the airport restaurants not accepting cc.

* Some vendors selling merch are not accepting cc

I always get a Coachella one for my wife whether she goes or not (usually not) I always end up with 2-4 band ones. Just bring cargo shorts to carry them in.

I did about 7-10 bottles of liquid a day, mostly water - some gatorade.

if they have the recycling again this year, you could hustle and save your water money which means more money for beer.
