I was shocked that they weren't on the 08 lineup.
But maybe its one of those "Gogol" things:

Where you expect someone on the lineup, only to find they show up next year but now have all this steam built up behind them and people are more excited. That's how I felt about Gogol Bordello in 07.

At any rate.. Although I haven't seen them, Menomena is fucking insanely good and I would love to see them on the line up next year. And have them play a respectable time-slot, please. Not in the Gobi at 3.

Couldn't agree more! I was so impressed with how well they play such complex songs in a live setting. These guys are so underrated. Mines and Friend & Foe are brilliant. I could see them being the Grizzly Bear of 2011. Btw, the drummer absolutely kills live!! Menomena for 2011!!

And it was my first time seeing Menomena and I was totally blown away. That drummer is a particularly talented guy, and really fun to watch

The name "Menomena" was chosen for "the way it rolls off the tongue, sexually, or something" and has no specific meaning, although it is often assumed to refer to the Piero Umiliani song "Mah Nà Mah Nà", a staple of The Muppet Show. In an audio clip from SpotDJ, Knopf sarcastically stated that the band name was a portmanteau of the words "Men" and "Phenomena."
