Yes I searched out and couldn't find a good enough answer. I read on Yahoo news that Goldfrapp was going to play this year. They even confirmed it in an interview. Then both articles vanished. I actually copied the article to show a friend. I had 2 friends from San Diego who bailed out because that was their favorite band.

What gives?

Here's the article.. It was on Yahoo News for crying out loud!

Electronica duo Goldfrapp explores 'joyous' sound
By Michael D. Ayers Fri Jan 4, 7:17 PM ET
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, the duo who make up U.K. electronica act Goldfrapp, were burned out.

Their 2005 Mute release, "Supernature, " brought the group a wide range of commercial success, a Grammy Award nomination and numerous licensing deals, but it demanded a heavy touring schedule, including a U.K. festival run with Coldplay.

Chic cool has followed Goldfrapp for years now, its music resonating with the fashion industry and within gay communities, as well as drawing fans from both the indie rock and dance music worlds.

Three tracks from "Supernature" hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and the album was nominated for the best electronic/dance album Grammy (it lost to Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor").

But the group sought a new direction. The result is "Seventh Tree, " which arrives February 26 via Mute.

"It was really nice sitting around with a couple of instruments and a voice and doing something polar opposite of the prolonged sound of 'Supernature, "' Goldfrapp recalled. "We wanted that space and warmth that we were missing."

There's a mellower, more airy vibe on "Seventh Tree, " although Goldfrapp's distinctive voice is as lush as ever. There are moments that recall the languid strains of Air and Zero 7 and others that brim with accessible melodies.

Initially, the plan was to explore a more psychedelic sound, according to Goldfrapp. "We went out and bought some music labeled 'psychedelia, "' she said. "We took it back to the studio, (but when) we listened to it, we thought, 'That's not what we mean at all.' I think we invented our own meaning for ("psychedelic"): We wanted it to be joyous and positive."

Gregory said the pair kept bandying "psychedelic" about in order to "goad ourselves on. It conjures up something a little out of focus, a bit dreamy and a little bit, in a way, out of its mind."

Given the right circumstances, "Seventh Tree" has the potential to diversify Goldfrapp's fan base much like Canadian artist Feist did last year with "The Reminder, " a notion that Mute sees as a distinct possibility.

The band will launch a 20- to 25-market North American tour in conjunction with an appearance at California's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in late April.

Now, Goldfrapp's task at hand is to prepare the new material for the live setting, which will incorporate the act's trademark visuals.

"It becomes part of the whole language; the narrative, " Goldfrapp said. "They all work together to build this picture of this world you are creating."

I think they might add them on later.... pretty sure.

LA Times also fucked up by having Crystal Castles in the line up. I was looking forward to them.

if they were confirmed a month ago, and still confirmed now, they would have announced it... so they must have dropped off for one reason or another... anyone they're gonna end up adding isn't confirmed yet (obviously) or else it would've been announced...

I wonder if they violated their contract with GV by leaking information to the press that they were to play there...who knows...

There's two goldfrapp threads that list that article. If you can't find them yourselves, that's your problem.

They're being held over for APW.

Along with Chem Bros, PJ Harvey, and a few other bands we would have wanted to see at Coach.

That pisses me off too, especially since there's a recession going on. Not all of coachella's fans are made of money.

I'll betcha they're wrapping up the contracting process. We will see them yet, and I'll bet it'll be Friday. As it stands, that day needs help. Have faith.

Goldfrapp and Crystal Castles could end up being the Of Montreal of this year. or they can be the Erol Alkan of this year and not play until next year.

DUDE, we KNOW they were confirmed... the damn article from yahoo is IN this fucking thread... we're all asking for the reason they're NOT playing (or at least on the poster!)... if they're STILL confirmed, they would've been announced... i'm certain that any bands TBA have not been secured nor confirmed...

We can't see what is going on behind the scenes. There lots of reasons why they are probably not on the lineup yet. Perhaps, they are finalizing the details, and just don't know which day they are going to play yet. I am pretty sure they will probably show up on the poster sometime before the festival.

Bands pretty much get added every year. Goldfrapp's case sound much like OF MONTREAL, last year. When they had been confirmed by numerous sources leading up to the unveiling of the lineup, only to be added a few weeks later.

There's a slew of bands like this, including Iggy and the Stooges back in 03, The Hives as well, I believe.

So take that for what it's worth.

I was just posting the links for people who wanted them...that's all...

As for them not playing, how would we know? Why not ask Goldenvoice or the band or their management?
