04... The Pixies reunion, Radiohead with Thom Yorke battling through voice issues to deliver an amazing performance, the Cure reunion... a great year.
03- featured the Libertines (damn was I lucky to see that show; they moved the band from Saturday to Sunday due to a technical problem they had experienced the night before. Unbeknownst to me, I stumbled past a sign displaying that the Libertines set had been moved to Sunday evening at the Mojave tent. Needless to say, an entertaining show and a once-in-a-lifetime chance.)

You have your years wrong. 2004 was Radiohead and by the way the Cure was not a reunion they never broke up.

Just thought I would make this easier. Again the poll isn't asking you the best lineup YOU witnessed, just which one is the hands down best.

Even if I hadn't attended 99 it would still for me be the winner.

October 9 Sat

A Perfect Circle, Amon Tobin, Art of Noise, At the Drive-In, Bassbin Twins, Beck, The Bicycle Thief, Bis, Breakbeat Era, The Chemical Brothers, Christopher Lawrence, Cornelius, Derrick May, DJ Food, DJ Rap, Die, Dynamite MC, IQU, Juan Atkins, Jurassic 5, Kevin Saunderson, Kid Koala, Los Amigos Invisibles, Medeski Martin & Wood, Ming + FS, Modest Mouse, Morrissey, Mr. Scruff, -Ziq, Nightmares on Wax, Perry Farrell, Plastikman, Richie Hawtin, Roni Size, Sandra Collins, Simply Jeff, Spiritualized, Super Furry Animals, Tomas, Underworld, The Wiseguys

October 10 Sun

4 Hero, A-Trak, Andy Maddocks, The Angel aka 60 Channels, Autechre, Banco de Gaia, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, BT, Carl Craig Innerzone Orchestra, Cibo Matto, DJ Cam, DJ Shadow, Esthero, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Gil Scott-Heron, GusGus, Jun, Kool Keith, Lamb, LTJ Bukem and Blame, Luke Vibert, MC Conrad, MC Question Mark, Mira Calix, Mixmaster Mike, Moby, Money Mark, Neotropic, Pavement, Push Button Objects, Rage Against the Machine, Q-Bert, Rahzel, Raymond Roker, Rob Hall, Scratch Perverts UK, Slipmaster J, Spearhead, Thievery Corporation, Tool, Ugly Duckling the vision decision

See what I mean, and that's in 99 man!

I'm really surprised '99 hasn't gotten more love.....I guess its reflective of the fact that Coachella has become much more mainstream in the last few years, and the shear volume of people attending has swayed the vote in favor of some of the more recent years

they were all awesome, right until jjgate.. theres something very wrong with this year's lineup, and it's not only about johnson headlining friday, or the lack of REM, there's a lot missing.. something that the few great bands playing this year can't fix..

there used to be an average of 20 to 25 bands in each day that i wanted to see performing from the past coachella lineups, this year i can count about 30 in all three days.. that's kinda sad.

2007 and 2004 both tie @ #1 for me...

BillyCrystal
01-25-2008, 11:38 AM
maybe i'm just biased because it was my first year, but 2003 doesn't get the credit it deserves (what with Sonic Youth, The Hives, Blur, The Rapture, White Stripes, Aesop Rock, Ben Folds...).

also, 2007 has sort of a leg up since it was the first three-day lineup.

of the years I have attended (04-future 08) I would have to say that 2004 and 2005 were both great, but 2004 was legendary, and 2007 was an epic three days. This year should be fantastic, regardless of Jack Johnson; that means it will hopefully be less crowded, and that I can head to the Sahara tent and not feel guilty about missing something amazing.
