It's far, probably like an hour drive from Indio, at least. Last year we stayed in North Palm Springs, and the cab ride was about $80 to the show. Jumped on it this year though, got some rooms 5 minutes away. Cheers.

Joshua Tree is a huge National Park. There are many campgrounds, and some are more than an hour away from the highway.

There is no water or services at any of the campgrounds in Joshua Tree that I know of...it's real camping, not this KOA shit suburbanites are used to with bathrooms, showers, and RV hookups.

Joshua Tree is beautiful and definitely worth visiting (I lived there for ten years), but completely impractical as a Coachella commute. You'd be looking at a drive of over an hour.

Indian Cove is beautiful, but it's an hour-ish to the Polo Grounds. As long as you don't mind the drive you'll be fine.
