So I don't know a lot of the artists that will be there. I know there are some links on the coachella page that direct us to check them out, but does anyone have recommendations as far as certain songs or albums to check out.

After filtering out all of the people that are complaining about the lineup, so many people are still excited, so there is to be something good about them. And Coachella is a reputable festival, so there is obvious reason to the choices that they have on the lineup. Dish out the goods people! I am always looking for new artists to add to my playlist.

I checked out that info, which is great.

But from people's own mouths I was hoping for personal recommendations....or not, that's cool too =).

hey waxybk - i'd recommend checking out cut copy, sebastiAn, erol alkan and simian mobile disco if you like the dance tent.

and bonde do role, st. vincent, les savy fav and animal collective for some great performances

must sees - portishead, the verve, spiritualized, the national.

it's just my opinion.. lots of good stuff through out all the days really.

I def want to see Portishead, Kraftwork, Danny T, Booka Shade, Sia, Modeselktor, Roger Waters, M.I.A., Hot Chip, Cinematic Orchestra, Little Brother, Chromeo, Murs, Calvin Harris, Mark Ronson, Fatboy Slim, Midnight Juggernuts.

But definitely trying to get more of a taste of some unknowns....

I am most excited about Portishead, BOOKA SHADE and Modeselktor!

I'll say it.. Café Tacvba... the most fun you'll have on the main stage on saturday, and they should be playing right at or around sundown...

I'm just now getting into Pendulum: kind of Propellerhead-ish with more range from harder industrial to slightly trancy. But always dancey.

Well, they are more electronic, more kinda idm. Creating electronic music sounds with live instrumentation. Don't miss them.

Explosions in the Sky are more in the post rock side, I think.

Here are some artists who haven't been mentioned much in any of the other threads I've read.

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - Vintage R&B/Soul, the Dap Kings have been backing Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson. Great live show, Sharon is the real deal.

Midnight Juggernauts - Fresh off a tour with Justice, don't know if their live show is any good though.

New Young Pony Club - Retro new wave sound, their debut album is alot of fun.

Jamie T - From the UK, hip hop meets indie rock, his album won the Mercury Prize last year.

Simian Mobile Disco - They released one of the best dance/electronic albums of 2007.

Mum - If you like Sigur Ros, this is another Icelandic band with similar sound.

Other acts I'm going to try and see: Diplo, Spank Rock, Cut Copy, Portishead, Kraftwerk, M.I.A., Mark Ronson, Hot Chip, Calvin Harris, Boyz Noise, Erol Alkan, Bonde Role, the Institubes djs, Justice, Gogol Bordello, the Streets, Booka Shade, the Cool Kids, Kid Sister w/ A-Trak, Flogging Molly plus a number of others.

I love Coachella but was severly dissapointed in the lineup. I was looking for Radiohead or Aphex Twin, or something from the warp catalogue. Jack Johnson is an insult. Animal Collective, Battles, Portishead and Roger Waters are all awesome but its not worth 300 hundred dollars plus everything else. Compare this lineup to any other year and it doesn't come close. There is no huge headliner. I can only hope that Coachella is witholding some information.
