I have no idea how you are going to do it this year Goldenvoice but you are going to have to give some of these bands longer set times or these artist that you booked are just going to be a flash in the night.

No way can you give Kraftwerk just an hour slot before Portishead. They are legendary robots for crying out loud. It would be unjust. I fyou are deciding to put them on after Portishead like you did with Tiesto last year, that would be cool too.

Roger Waters doing all of DSOTM is going to be great but I'm telling you he's gonna need at least a full 2 hour + set to really have people talking.

My Morning jacket could very well be one of the best rock bands you have at the fest this year but we'll only get like 8 to 10 songs in a 60 minute set and that's just not enough.

So please, not only give longer sets out of respect for the artist, but respect for all of your fans who come to the dessert to experience Coachella

ps, you can give Jack Johnson 45 minutes if you want.

Definitely longer set times for the bands mentioned. I think Portishead will play an hr and a half and then Kraftwerk after them for equal length. Waters has to go 2+ hrs if we want that show to be as awesome as Paul is having us believe it will be.

Kinda off topic, but since I missed them last year, I'm hoping there's a solid set for Justice and Gogol, and that they don't conflict with Waters/MMJ.

What sort of grading curve are we basing this off of?
I think I deserve a B for this thread.

i think Kraftwerk will go on first (although i wouldn't mind it the other way around) with a longer set, followed by Portishead with a shorter set... i'd guess and hour and a half for Kraftwerk and and hour or an hour 15 for portishead (that'd be enough for them to play just about every song they have)...

i think Roger Waters will do and hour and a half (that'd be time for all of Dark Side of the Moon and still enough time to throw in another half dozen hits or so...)

Actually, it's not the set times that seem to be the problem...it's the inane closing time of midnight. Last year, Tiesto was cut short because everyone ahead of him went too long.

Portishead will go on before Kraftwerk.

Agreed. Believe me, as much as I LOVE Portishead, i would rather end the night with Kraftwerk

Not really but thanks for playing. Most bands before the headliner get 60 minutes, occasionally 75, other bands, about 45-50. I don't think GV ever cuts a band short because other bands run late. If everything is ready and the artist (ie. Madonna) comes on late then they need to get off the stage at their scheduled time.

Headliners no matter what in my opinion deserve to be allowed to play for 2.5 hours. They don't need to play that long but it should at least be an option.

what the hell would Portishead play for 2.5 hours??? both of their albums TWICE!?

portishead after Kraftwerk will kill the mood of the night I think...

longer set times for kraftwerk/roger w would be sweeet!

Exactly why I don't think they are headliner material first of all and second of all if you read a little further i said it should be an option to be able to play that long.

idk... i've been to ALOT of concerts and i can probably count on one hand the number of bands i've seen go 2 and a half hours... and most of them have been around for 20+ years

What do you mean "I don't think GV ever cuts a band short because other bands run late."? Were you there, last year? Tiesto announced the reason, for fuck's sake!

As I didn't pay attention to anyone else that ended on the main stage, I can't speak about when they ended.

What was the announcement? You might be right.
I do know that alot of DJ's always feel like when they are being told to get off stage, that their time is being cut short. I am pretty sure Tiesto was slated to play 90 minutes and he played 90 minutes. I was off my goard so who knows.

paul specifically said kraftwerk will go on after portishead on the main stage.

and i agree that headliners should get to play as long as they want.

He flat-out said he was cut short by the previous bands. RHCP went too long.
