I agree. My Morning Jacket, in my opinion, is a bigger draw than Portishead.

Bigger draw than Portishead? I dunno about that, but if The Decemberists can be second-line, so can My Morning Jacket.

I'd like them better if the singer didn't sound so much like Kermit THE Frog.

I hope they don't play before the headliner as always.

My Morning Jacket are more than just a jam band

I'm not familiar with them, but I'm open to checking them out. I didn't think that performance was boring though. I found it very hairy.

Jim James cut all his hair off. What a shame.

My Morning Jacket are more than just a jam band

exactly. Dismissing them as one is unfair to them and yourself.

I am really excited for them. I missed all the shows they did at the Fillmore in SF after they did Coachella in 2006 including the one they recorded their live album/movie at. If you want to get a feel for them live I highly recommend it. Its called Okonokos.

MMJ isn't just a jam band. They might be one of five bands to actually play a power chord this year at Coachella. When they played "Gideon" at Lolla last year, with the crowd belting it out, was a very cool moment. I'll probably see them again barring a Justice or Gogol conflict. But it appears they'll have a later set than I would expect, though I think they'll have a completely different feel at night once it's cooled off and you're gearing up for Floyd, it'll be loads better than a mid-day set where no one has any energy to rock out at the main stage. They'll be a perfect set-up for Roger Waters.
