Who or what are they ?

I don't think any more tier1 headliners will be added. It would be a 'put down' to those already listed as headliners so I think we have what we have.

So ??

yeah, yeah i know the headliners don't make the festival, but these headliners just don't make sense to me......like everyone has said, portishead is definitely a solid sub. jack johnson.....eh?, and roger waters just seems kinda lazy.

i could see someone knocking portishead down to subheadliner slot but i don't know who.

there's just so many bands left to choose from......feist, broken social scene, cat power, oasis, albert hammond, jr..............many, many more. it makes me wonder what the hell happened.

Perhaps GV are working on David Gilmore right now?

Could you imagine if a month before the festival, Roger Waters disapeared off the poster and Pink Floyd appeared in his place?

his trick is building a lake in the middle of the field. i doubt it has anything to do with bands because he said they are having a lot of fun this year blah blah pulling (our tails) then saying he has tricks up his sleeve. Maybe they are adding another something: stage whatever. i dunno

For Paul to really come out and say he's got some tricks up his sleeves, there's gotta be 1-3 pretty big bands that haven't dropped yet. I remember last year hearing from everyone on the msg board that someone pretty big would be added, ala Daft, Madonna, Kanye. But to my knowledge, that didn't happen. But this year it's got to, I think Band of Horses and No Doubt seem like good choices. Headliner-wise, I love the Floyd idea!

Maybe though it will just be bands we expected to already have seen on the poster (e.g. Goldfrapp). Hopefully some surprises though. And the good kind, not the Jack Johnson kind.

Daft Fro
01-22-2008, 12:08 AM
Tricks I'm hoping for:

Aphex Twin
Basement Jaxx
Royksopp
Chemi Bros
Underworld
The Prodigy
Groove Armada
Mars Volta
The Faint
Broken Social Scene
Feist
Bat for Lashes
The Presets

**Change Roger Waters to > Pink Floyd
**Change Death Cab to > The Postal Service >_<

More realistically, I could see maybe Oasis & Kanye West getting added.

But honestly, I'm not holding on for anything, I think 08 is solid.

I'm hearing rumblings about Catherine Wheel. Rob Dickinson has already gone on record as saying we can expect to see "new old music" in 2008.

I know people are hoping for MBV but thats a pipe dream. Perhaps it is that other shoegazer band that has peoples underwears all ruffled.

A very real possibility, IMHO.

If paul has one trick it better be removing Jack Johnson.

And the DSOTM isn't just that album. RW is doing quite a bit of material off of the wall. Including Comfortably Numb which will probably end his set.

I wish he would announce these "tricks" soon. As in before Friday. I need to decide whether or not to cancel my hotel, and pay the couple hundred bucks to transfer my flight to somewhere else (Bonnaroo or All Points West). Sadly I have a feeling though that there won't be any additions for a while.

There will be no more surprises for this year Coachella. Im not excited with this lineup, at all. My guess is APW will be a 'better' festival. If jack johnson is playing here i think he wont play APW. Radiohead will be there, im sure.

i dont know if everyone who thinks there is even a possibility of gilmour playing is just being fanciful, but if you seriously think that is going to happen you are deluding yourself. they dont speak anymore. gilmour has publicly said on many occasions, including in an interview in rolling stone, that he NEVER wants to reunite. he is bored with pink floyd he says. the only reason the live 8 show happened was for charity. I think Underworld or My Bloody Valentine would probably add a lot of excitement to the festival. Probably not Goldfrapp or Bat For Lashes. Of course, it all depends on your definition of madness. I doubt there is going to be any huge additions like Prince or Led Zeppelin. And do we really want something like what happened with Madonna again?
