I would say that Lolla is indeed bigger but Lolla had a whole lot of empty space in the middle of it with the fountain and the walking paths from each side of the fest. Coachella is the perfect size. You can get to the Saharah to the main stage in 5 minutes or so easily. And there is barely any noise bleed from stage to stage unless a real quiet act is on one stage and a loud one is on another.

I actually went to a beer garden after The Dears last year and totally forgot to get a pack of smokes.

One more advantage of camping: the beer garden wristband you get there is valid for the entire festival, because I would not wait 2 minutes in line to get into one, let alone half an hour.

I could tell they thought I was weird for only buying water in there.

I got my wristband in the camping beer garden, too. They made me change my wrist band from one hand to the other on Sunday, but they didn't make me stand in line and show my ID, I just had to go straight to the front of the line and take off the "wrong hand band" and let them give me another on the "right hand"--I thought that was pretty cool, considering the ridiculous line

Boourns
02-11-2007, 07:18 PM
5 minutes sounds about right. 10 if your tent is at the far end of the campsite. Very convenient, really. It would be a longer walk to get to a car in the parking lot, and then said car would have to sit in traffic. Yay, camping.

Set times should be online sometime in the evening of Wednesday April 25, either on here or latimes.com There's always an article in the LA Times the Thursday before Coachella, listing which acts they think you should see at which times, and sometimes that article gets posted online before the official schedule is released on coachella.com, with pretty colors and all that good stuff.

What about wheelchair accessibility? Are there platforms where people in wheelchair can view the show? The ADA requires there be some type of accomodation at every stage so that wheelchair users can see over the heads of people standing in front of them. I really don't want to have paid $250 for a 3 day pass and not be able to see the show.

This probably isn't the place to be asking that. If the ADA requires it then they will probably have it. Pretty sure they won't place them near the front though. They might have a place close to the front set aside? I'm really just guessing.

If you keep going past the ticket trailers and ATM's you'll see the VIP/camping entrance. For some reason, there hasn't been a sign for it since 2004. It's like this:
______________________
*
*
*
*
_______$$$$________! ! ! !

* = main entrance
$ = tickets/will call/ATM
! = camping/VIP

People must run really fast because I was the first one through the camping entrance on Sunday last year and the merch booth was already overcrowded.

Hello!! Im coming from the UK, and am a Coachella virgin. I was just wondering, whats the deal with checking bags as you go into the festival/campsite. As im coming from England, im going to have a very big rucksack - do they usually make you take things out to check through or not?

Do you have to be a camper to enter through the super seecrit camper entrance? It seems like we tried last year but were denied cause we didn't have camper armbands.

I'm just trying to get an idea, using google earth and the previous map, of where i'll be camping, where i go to register for camping, and how to get from the campsite to the show. ... hahaha

and everyone is trying to get an idea of what every band sounds like, what drugs will be on hand, where people are coming from, how old queer and naked they want to be, who they get to have sex with ...

never before have I had so much fucking information available about a music festival ahead of time as I do for Coachella. Is this TMI??? yet in some ways I dig it!

Way far away. Allow for at least an hour to get off the freeway, into the parking lot, and walk from your car to the festival.

Where is the camping entrence? And the camping box office?

By camping entrence I mean where you enter the camping, so we donīt get misunderstandings :)

If I got it right H should be the main stage and D the festival entrence.

Gotta love Google maps. Some of the lot between points A-B-C-D is parking, but most is camping. D would be the camping/vip entrance to the festival itself, while the main entrance would be close to E. Second stage is around point I, main stage between H and I, but closer to H.

The camping entrance is around the second tent to the right of the words "regular, overcrowded entrance" on this pic:

Regardless of how far away you park, you are going to be too fucked up to find your car/rickshaw/RV/zeppelin. It's a Coachella fact. Look under FAQ's, it actually says, "True, you will get lost and stumble into the wrong party."

Green Circle is where you line up to get into camping(actually along a fence to the left of it).

The green rectangle is inside and is a group of tents where you get assigned a camping area, get wristbands, etc...

The parking area in the bottom left is camper parking, but if you get unlucky or leave to run to the store and the camper lot is full you can end up parking way down in the bottom right on the Southwest corner of Monroe and 51st where there is extra parking.

last year, it was the closest entrance, which makes sense since the campers were allowed in first.

Camping entrance is closest to the campgrounds on the map which is the same as it was last year I believe. Otherwise you'd have to wade through a line of non-campers to get to the camper entrance.

Are there any street closings during Coachella or directional traffic changes entering or leaving the fest?

What I am trying to figure out is if Madison, Avenue 51, and Avenue 52 are bi-directional traffic throughout the weekend.

All the official directions keep mentioning Monroe, as I am coming from the other direction, I would like to skip that section entirely unless due to some one way restrictions traffic flow is limited. Mapquest is suggesting Madison from the south.

Many thanks.

Last year leaving the festival, we were not allowed to go south on Madison from Lot 4. It sucked because Lake Cahuilla is straight down. We had to go North on Madison, left on Ave 50, left on Jefferson, left on Ave 52, and FINALLY South on Madison. Assholes.

Going into the festival it never seems to be one way-coming out always is one way. Sometimes one way is the right direction and sometimes they make you go the wrong direction and you will not know until you leave! And we have gotten stuck in lot 2 (1999) and lot 4(2007) for hours so there may not be a pattern there. But we never have parked in lot 2 again! It seems like the closer you are the longer it takes to get out,.

I think last year everyone had to go through lot 5 to get out. So, being in lot 5 was the best. I don't know why they can't let people out on Madison, Ave 52 or Monroe, depending on the closest exit. Anyway, here's hoping to get lot 5 again.

I am wondering where the hotel shuttles will be dropping off and picking up. I am trying it this year-the walk back to the car and the drive back to the hotel has gotten really tiring the last few years and the fear of being stuck in the parking lot for hours(okay-only happened twice in ten years) made me fork over the money for the shuttles. Now I am hoping-A. they are close to the festival grounds and B. they run often enough so the wait isn't too bad.Anybody do the Shuttle for the Phish concert?
