Yes! The whole episode! Everything had to be about him and I know he's like that, but this was too much!

I loved Pam's expression when Jim said her bad dancing was cute. It was so perfect - exactly how someone would react in that situation. I love little acting nuances like that - they're hard to do. Kudos to Jenna Fischer.

Tonight's ep was directed by Joss Whedon.

Dwight is hilarious. I am looking forward to him being on SNL.

Also poor Meredith. I was laughing pretty loud at that.

My dad was really liking this show but now he has decided that he doesn't like it because it is at heart mean-spirited. I aruged that he hadn't seen enough episodes and that the show had much love for the characters and that while it presents them as ridiculous it is not done in a mean way. Thoughts please.

bmack86
02-15-2007, 07:00 PM
i definitely don't feel like the show is mean spirited. For every moment that the characters are shown as awkward or insensitive, there's another scene that makes them likeable or, at very least, more human.

oh come on. The part where Michael is tossing the candy bars around the lecture hall is priceless. Then at the end when pam asks what he has in his pocket and it turns out to be a Chunky. Not the greatest episode, but still funny.

I'm not sure if this has made the rounds yet, but apparently Jenna Fischer had an accident Monday and fractured her back in four places:

Fischer's publicist tells me the Office star "fractured her lower back in four places" in New York Monday after falling down some marble stairs in high heels. Her pal and co-star Angela Kinsey "has been with her the whole time" and her husband, filmmaker/actor James Gunn, has flown to be with her. He added, "She is expected to make a full recovery and will not miss any time on The Office."

Kind of a lame source, but if it's true, send her some "get well soon" vibes while watching the season finale this week.

Scranton, Pa., to host 'Office' party

By MICHAEL RUBINKAM, Associated Press Writer Wed Oct 24, 9:34 AM ET
ALLENTOWN, Pa.

As Michael Scott, the clueless boss on NBC's "The Office," would say, "ain't no party like a Scranton party."

With that in mind, the city where the Emmy-winning cubicle comedy is set is hosting a weekend blowout for thousands of fans.

The inaugural "Office Convention" promises to be as quirky as the show itself, with highlights including an Office Olympics (Dunderball, anyone?), a character lookalike contest, appearances by cast and crew and performances by the Scrantones, the band that recorded the show's theme music.

"If people leave here saying, `I had a blast in Scranton,' then we've achieved our goal," said Michele Dempsey, 35, an architect and Scranton native who came up with the idea for the convention.

It starts Friday with the "Today" show's Al Roker broadcasting live from the University of Scranton and wraps up Sunday.

About 2,000 tickets ranging from $25 to $250 have been sold so far — 70 percent of them to out-of-town fans.

A remake of the acclaimed British series of the same name, "The Office" is shot in mock-documentary style, following the exploits of Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and his sad-sack underlings at the fictional Dunder-Mifflin paper-supply company.

In its fourth season on NBC, "The Office" boasts a devoted following.

Fans have been making pilgrimages to Scranton, a small city about 100 miles north of Philadelphia, to check out real-life landmarks referenced on the show, from Poor Richard's pub and Farley's restaurant to Lake Wallenpaupack and the Lackawanna County Coal Mine Tour.

City leaders have done their best to capitalize on the show's popularity, touting Scranton's recent emergence from years of economic stagnation.

"The show has been the vehicle by which we can tell our story, and cities rarely get that opportunity," said Mayor Chris Doherty, who counts himself a fan.

Fourteen cast members, along with the show's writers and executive producer, are scheduled to appear this weekend. None of the actors who play the main characters — Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer — have signed on.

Dempsey said the show has helped the city feel good about itself.

"For us in Scranton, we watch it with a whole other level of appreciation," she said. "When you would tell people outside the area you lived in Scranton, they would feel sorry for you. Now, it's, 'Oh my God, I love The Office!'"

So Jenna & James' separation is way old, but the thread bump reminded me I should admit something geeky.

I really really REALLY hate celebrity worship/gossip. But I must admit that I've had a "couple friend crush" on them...they just seemed like exactly the couple my wife and I would want to go hang around with and play charades and go to dinner and talk about movies and...

Right after they split, James posted a bunch of pictures on his blog of him and his friends at the LA County Fair and it made me a little sad. Cause I would want to go to the fair with him, and I would be sad my friends had broken up.

OK, geek mode off...So how come the first 4 or 5 episodes were an hour long, and now they're back to normal?

NBC SHOWCASES GREG DANIELS' 'THE OFFICE' AND HIS NEW 'OFFICE' SPINOFF IN COVETED POST SUPER BOWL TIMESLOT
Published: April 2, 2008

NEW YORK – April 2, 2008 - NBC announced today that the most coveted time period of the coming season, the post Super Bowl slot, will be used to launch a spinoff of the network's hit comedy series, "The Office." Immediately following NBC Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLIII, the network will first present an original episode of "The Office," followed by the debut of the new Greg Daniels comedy. The Super Bowl has been perennially the biggest television event of the broadcast season and was watched this year by a total audience of more than 148 million viewers. Giving this new series that coveted premiere slot will afford the show tremendous sampling from all demographic groups.

Greg Daniels, Executive Producer of "The Office," said, "Who would have ever thought that Americans would be subjected to a mock-documentary after the Superbowl? What has happened to this country?"

From Greg Daniels, the Executive Producer of the Emmy Award-winning American version of NBC's "The Office," comes the most highly anticipated comedy of the season in "The Office" spinoff. Audiences will follow another comic journey, complete with new faces and new locations, but with the same unique sense of humor and brand of quality from Daniels and his creative team. It's the next chapter of what viewers have come to know and love about "The Office."

i think a creed spinoff would be the best.

mainly because his spinoff, IMO, would be the most interesting and yet have the least to do with The Office characters.

one of the most successful spin-offs of all time was Frasier, and that show really had nothing to do with Cheers, minus a few cameos.

just my two cents :)

That's what she said!
Well, when we say "she," we mean "he," the "he" in question being Ricky Gervais, and the hard work being Carell's dedication to both The Office and his numerous film roles. Get your mind out of the gutter, perv!

Just why was Gervais so apt to sing Carell's praises on his blog recently? Namely because Carell signed a contract that will keep him working as everyone's favorite bumbling idiot of middle-management, Michael Scott, for three more years.

Amy Poehler says she's bound for `Office' spinoff
By JAKE COYLE, AP Entertainment Writer
Thu Jul 17, 10:46 AM PDT

Amy Poehler confirmed to The Associated Press that she'll be joining the planned "Office" spinoff, paving the way for her eventual exit from "Saturday Night Live" and promoting the comedian to primetime.

Speaking by phone Thursday shortly after her Emmy nomination for outstanding actress in a comedy series on "SNL," Poehler said she will join NBC's spinoff of "The Office." She's expected to star.
