Has anyone listened to them? A friend of mine introduced me to them, and I am so loving this sound right now.

Its like German Electrohouse. Really dope beats.

Booka Shade is incredible. Best electronic live act I saw last year. If you have a chance to see them live, do not miss it.

Also, their Essential Mix is money. One of the best.

Yea that album is great! I've been listening to it non stop. Both amazing tracks. I've heard both of them on a few mixes that I have. Pong Pang is dope...actually most of the tracks on this ablum are killer.

I'll def take a listen to the essential mix!

Yea I have a mix by Audio Slave with that track on there. I think that's what got me to really like them.

Also, they are so not playing in NY. I don't even know where I got that imaginary date from.

I saw the thread about them at Coachelle....fuckin RAD!!!!!!!

I found a copy of Movements with the following track listing:

1. Night Falls
2. Body Language
3. Shimmer
4. Paper Moon
5. The Birds and the Beats/At the Window
6. Darko
7. Hide and Seek in Geisha's Garden
8. Pong Pang
9. Mandarine Girl
10. Take a Ride
11. Wasting Time
12. In White Rooms
13. Hallelujah USA
14. Lost High

But according to allmusic.com, there are only 12 tracks, with "Shimmer" and "Hide and Seek..." being the tracks not included. Could what I have be an import?

yep, lovin' this sound.

there's a lot of electro and this year, with a LOT of distortion and loud, thumping low-end (which i can totally appreciate), but it's nice to have something like booka shade to balance things out a little. they've got a good sense for mixing the danceable with the chill.

It's sort of a popular album, so yes, I'd say lots of people have it. A quick look over at Discogs could probably tell you which tracklisting you have.

Dude, I was kidding. But you're sounding kinda Rev. Martin Luther King-ish, with your dream of someday having a thread on this board with no negativity, no discrimination, when the coloreds are allowed to post in both the Music and Misc. Lounge and everyone rejoices that bottled water at Coachella is free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, it is free at last.

Well, nobody besides waxybk had responded in this thread with regards to my original question. Thanks for the recommendation to check out Discogs. I've never heard of the site.

So I get to see Booka tomorrow and I am thoroughly looking forward to it. I saw them at Coachella last year ofcourse but I felt something was missing. I was very eager to see them again and now I have the chance! This night time slot will be perfect for them. I am hoping to hear any of the following:

Double Identity
Friend For a Night
Something Physical
S.T.A.R.Z.
Night Falls
Body Language
Paper Moon
Mandarine Girl
Wasting Time (such a beautiful song)
In White Rooms
Control Me
Charlotte (favorite off the newest album)
Karma Car

So from 1:30-2:30am Sunday morning it will be just me and Booka, letting the music take hold. I am not going to let anyone talk to me or bother me during their set. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Yay Booka was so great last night, (technically this morning) and I was so impressed with their enthusiasm, and the crowds as well. For a second I thought I wasn't going to get inside the Main room, because cops were blocking the doors with horses and it was kind of ridiculous. Thankfully I was inside just in time and they played a few of my favs on the list, and the vibe was really great. They need to get more acts like Booka to the raves.

Those horse cops were crazy. Were they expecting some kind of crazy stampede before Book Shade started? That room was half empty as they stopped people from entering, only to let them trickle in. The only other reason I could think of is some kind of medical emergency. Good thing my friend & I decided to go in there a bit early. It was a fun show.

Yeah that was a great show. Unfortunately I got your PM earlier today, but I would've been up for a smoke for sure.

Booka Shade was tight, the drummer guy has a really neat stage presence that works well for dance music but isn't cheesy at all. They seem like really cool dudes, and their show is super tight. They had the Independent raving for sure.

This is actually a weird coincidence, but they're playing Irving Plaza here in NYC in Friday and it's literally down the block from my building (if you stand outside you can see the venue). It's weird because aside from Luciano last year which got canceled anyway that venue doesn't usually book EDM acts.
