I was at the festival last year and noticed a fair amount of tailgating and what was probably people sleeping in their vehicles throughout the campground parking lot. I know the 'rules' say that's not allowed, but I'm curious as to if anyone has actually been approached by staff due to either hanging around your vehicle or sleeping in it. I myself don't see how they're able to enforce such nuisance bylaws anyways...

I have seen plenty of folks rousted and sent away. If you dont have an onsite camping parking pass they will tell you to move or be towed. it happens.

definitely people get towed.

...So, people thinking they are going to wake up and enjoy Sunday at the festival, are rudely awoken by pitbulls and dobermans at Miguel's impound lot in San Jacinto?

You make it sound like people are getting towed while they are sleeping in their vehicles....

i dont know, i dont go with the tow people. I just know that they don't allow sleeping in your car overnight and we attempt to warn people. it is on the website as a no no.

There are truck stops where you could probably get away with sleeping in your car. Some even have showers. woooooo

Thanks for the help all, I appreciate it. My intention was to park and sleep in the camping lot but buy myself a camping pass as well. I can't imagine being towed for that, though. Anyone have any reason to think that would be a major prob? My van has a solar fan that my tent doesn't and I just wanna sleep in comfort this year :P

On Saturday night in 2007, the traffic out of the parking lots was at a dead stop. So we decided to sleep in the cars while everyone cleared out. We woke up at around 4:30am and about 95% of the cars were gone. No one told us a thing.

onsite camping page:

Can I buy camping tickets and sleep in an RV or car parked in the onsite camping parking lot?

Sorry, there is no RV parking allowed in the onsite camping parking lot. No sleeping in your car is allowed either. Please check our Offsite camping page for options.

I'm aware that it's not allowed, that's not my concern.

cool thats lucky.

but i wouldnt tell people it's ok to go over the speed limit just because i didnt get pulled over. we know its against the rules and people do get pulled over.

:)

just trying to helpfully warn people of the rules.

If I buy 2 camping tickets can I park my car horizontally or diagonally so that I take up two spots?
