Who would you get to play at Coachella? And what stage would they be on?
The two that come to mind right away for me are...
Joe Strummer
- The Clash headlining the mainstage (because there is logistically no other place for them.)
- The Mescaleros closing the outdoor theatre. I honestly could not think of a more amazing way to end the night.
Johnny Cash
- playing at sunset on the mainstage.
Obviously, I could name many more, but I see these as being amazing acts to see at Coachella. Actually, in the atmosphere of Coachella, I would rather see Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros then the Clash, but I certainly wouldn't turn down a Clash performance.

Johnny Cash could for sure play Coachella. But if were alive and played stagecoach... I would probably go. GV would probably get him to play both though.

Velvet Underground wouldn't need Nico, but they would need Sterling Morrisson. And, fuck Doug Yule. 40 minute version of Sister Ray with John Cale on Viola and Organ, and that's the set.
Also, it would have been great to have seen Can with Michael Karoli and Faust with Uwe Nettlebeck. Or Otis Redding. Or Booker T. & MGs with Duck Dunn.
And both the Screamers and The Germs. And The Minutemen. I think Steve Albini said that the Roland drum machine he used in Big Black bit the dust, does that count?

I saw them before that, with Marky still on drums. They were so much fucking fun!Just get It's Alive,it's the perfect representation of The Ramones at that time.No stops,1234,every song a fucking classic, and then the guy comes out with the pinhead mask and the sign (Gabba Gabba Hey!)

Oh, Marky was there when I saw them, but he's not technically an original member. (Tommy is on "It's Alive", but left right after that.)
Actually, the '94 lineup was probably much better than the one in the mid to late 80's. A returned Marky and energetic CJ was preferable to Ritchie and an unhappy, drugged up DeeDee.
"Loco Live" from the early 90's is pretty good too, though not as essential as "It's Alive". Same lineup I saw, a few clunkers in the setlist, but everything is speeded up and they even hid Carbona Not Glue on there. (At the time, the original recording was unavailable for legal reasons.)
I hardly ever actually listen to any of their albums directly. Live always beats studio with Ramones. I made a mix of some of their good pop stuff that didn't make the live albums. (I love Danny Says & Questioningly...they never got enough credit for their softer side.) But beyond the first 3 albums, they are all more miss than hit.
