What I'm most curious about: do I get to choose a new reunion act in the Create Your Own Festival contest?

I was hoping Ike would be on someone's death pool, but alas, it was not to be.

I was too Carlos, but it was scrapped awhile ago perhaps it was due to his ailing health.

Good riddance.

Say what you will, but the man was an incredible musician. Little known fact he was the first artist to record an album with guitar distortion. Its unfortunate but understandable that he's more memorable for his drug and spousal abuse than his talent.

Wasn't Link Wray the first to play with distortion? "Rumble"? Stabbing the speakercone of his amp with a pencil? Anyone?

Ike did it in 1951, Rumble came out in 1958.

Good to know. I remember Rolling Stone saying something about "Rumble", but I guess it wasn't that it was the first song with distortion.

I thought for sure Nando had died. Thank god it was only Ike Turner.

I actually was fortunate enough to meet Ike Turner on more than one occasion. I used to live within minutes of him. I ran into him at Kinkos once and approached him and told him how honored I was to meet a legend. He seemed very grateful for it, especially coming from someone at my age. He then went to his car and pulled out a picture and autographed it for me.

actually it strikes me as really funny that he appeared to carry around pictures of himself, just in case he needed to give someone an autograph.

I'm pretty sure a lot of celebs do. Or did. Like, there are tons on the wall at Hamburger Haven by the Troubadour.

well I think that's why he was at Kinkos making copies of said pictures for who knows what so that's why he had them on hand.

Didn't he also lose his virginity at the age of six? Seriously. He claimed this on Stern.

Hey, he's the one that fucked himself over by doing that shit. Had he not, the country would be mourning.

Come on Ida Mae.....eat the cake for Ike baby, eat the cake for Ike.

I played some Ike & Tina at work yesterday for the coworkers. I had forgotten how much I like their version of "Honky Tonk Woman".

Their first names all have 3 letters and they all slept with Jane Fonda?
