Did Warp already confirm it? The rumor was around since last week but Warp didn't say anything. I hope it's a double LP.

Looks like Autechre and Aphex are some of the few warp artists available for Coachella. Clark also will release his new album in january, by the way. I can't wait for it, Body Riddle is one of the best idm albums ever.

Their last tour was unreal. It was mostly crazy hacked drum machines. Some stuff from Untilted, but a lot of new stuff. It was loud and a blast. There are bootlegs all over the place online if you are interested in checking it out.

BoC won't be there, and I have the scary feeling that Aphex will be the surprise headliner in the Bangface weekend in UK during the same dates.

That lineup is INSANE. Seriously. It's one of the best electronic lineups I've ever seen in a festival.

well we can take Venetian Snares off the wish list....

Yeah, I'd be happy with Autechre and Clark, though.

A Plaid+Clark show would have been incredible.

I was pronouncing it awe-teh-kra... The other way makes sense though.

Damn... it sounds like I will be discovering A LOT of new artists at Coachella this year. I have never hear these guys (this guy?)

two guys. check out tri repetae, Untilted, Gantz Graf, and EP7... pretty good variety for them. They basically picked up where Aphex Twin left off with Drugks. They are pretty rad.

Untilted is basically an homage to early raves. It's really cool because it 's weird and experimental as hell in terms of sound design and rhythm, but you get that steamy, cramped warehouse feel that you'd imagine those first raves were like.

Untitled and Gantz Graf are SICK. As is the video for Gantz Graf. Its all Ive looked up but they sound awesome. I am new to this genre... so I will start looking more into them.

Believe it or not, yesterday was the first time I ever looked up some Aphex Twin stuff. I thought I had never heard his stuff before. As it turns out, I knew Come To Daddy... but everything else is new to me.

How the hell do you pronounce "Autechre"?

I've heard that it's short for "Audio Technical Research," so Au-Tech-Re.

Anyway, Autechre at the El Rey is the only show I've voluntarily gone to and walked out of. Major disappointment. I think I would have been able to enjoy it if security would have just let me sit quietly against the wall and soak up the sounds. I'd like to give them another chance live though, so hopefully we'll see them on the poster.

I'm not sure if mispronouncing "Autechre" or worrying about the mispronunciation of "Autechre" makes you a bigger tool. In fact, I don't think IDM fans are actually supposed to verbally communicate with other human beings in general, or else there wouldn't be songs titled "Altibzz".

lol, I suppose one can still communicate song titles like that, but there's a thin line between saying that and sounding like a looney tunes sound effects track.

HAMMERHEAD - at least check out amber, very epic record in it's own way.. probably the most accessible autechre effort too.

they are incredible live. as long as you don't get hung up on the fact that it's dark and they don't care about stage presence. the reality is... it's a chance to hear them improvise on a good sound system.

SoulDischarge

I walked out on them at the El Rey a couple of years back. I think I went in with the wrong mind state and I felt kind of shitty and the club security wouldn't let me just sit down against the wall and soak it up. Major disappointment.

It wasn't just you. That was a really strange show. And for me to say that, it really was extremely strange.

wmgaretjax

Autechre isn't exactly a new experience live. They perform in a traditional capacity, with little visual stimulation... They also typically play within the paradigm constructed by the album. I'm not sure what the hell is strange about that. The music itself might not be ordinary (but you didn't expect that, you've heard them on album), but the presentation itself is nothing to be surprised about.

SoulDischarge
03-02-2010, 01:25 PM
I think he was referring to that particular show. Not exactly them live in general. It was kind of odd. Everyone just stood around looking confused for most of the evening. LA crowds.

Autechre has always been my favorite of the warp artists. Confield was the first one they released I didn't immediately like. Now its my fav.
