Well, that was 10 years ago. Their latest material was kinda dissapointing, but the From the archives vol series was pretty good and brought the darkness back. Environments was also really nice, but it doesn't count much since was an album of unreleased tracks made around 15 years ago.

I'm afraid i'm not the most educated on their work, so I can't recommend an album. I'll just say that the first CD I got by them was "Teachings from the Electronic Brain", which is their greatest hits CD.

I'll leave the rest to marokoo.

Dead Cities
Accelerator
ISDN
Lifeforms(the next 3 in really any order)
Tales of Ephidrina
Lifeforms Pathways 1-7
The Isness (I guess. I still hate this album. I give it a chance every year or so, and its just fucking balls)

you should throw away everything of them from 2002 to 2006.

Ofcourse I can count on you Donald! You have the entire electronic database known to man in your house.

LoL. I wouldn't go that far.

Accelerator is probably the most accessible of their material. The most famous track off of it is Papua New Guinea which is pretty much a classic as others have said on the board.

ISDN and Dead Cities are quite good but a little abstract, trippy and sometimes a bit abrasive for the novice listener. I use to listen to these two albums a lot under the influence in college.

Lifeforms is very pretty as is Tales Of Ephedrina, by their other name Amorphous Androgynous. Those two albums are more for chilling out and relaxing.

I wouldn't bother with anything past Dead Cities Sophia. They started churning out weird psychedelic rock which doesn't really sound like their earlier body of work at all.

Donaldj

WRONG! you just need to wrap your mind around a more organic acid sound. yeah it's different/difficult at first. THEN you realize they are on to something. repeat listening while using headphones is recommended!

orbit
11-08-2008, 02:00 AM
don't think i haven't tried. lifeforms, dead cities, isdn, my kingdom, accelerator are masterpieces, but they really lost the plot after dead cities. ok, not everything is bad, but their stuff under amorphous androgynous 2002-2005 is awful. you just can't deny it!

by the way, metropolis ep is fucking great.

Nice! I don't remember what I bought first from FSOL. I think it was probably the Papua 12". ISDN is my personal favorite but like I said it's a bit abstract and may sail over the head of someone who doesn't listen to a lot of strange music.

I just noticed you quoted me in your signature too, lmao.

yeah, overall, ISDN is my fav. as well. in the same style, lifeforms is a close second. But Accelerator, pretty much in a class of its own. i through that in sometimes and i wonder why i took it out.
