Damn, $159 for section W3 for Radiohead on Sunday at the Bowl. And that's the cheapest, at least on Barry's Tickets.

suprefan
08-20-2008, 12:10 PM
Why the hell are you checkign on Barry's? Go on craigslist, there are peopel selling for face or barely above it. The seats in the back will lose value at this point. Seats up front wont really until the day of.

Boourns
08-20-2008, 12:23 PM
I've been looking. I really hope I can get a ticket so I don't have to camp out all night. Actually, two tickets. My friend needs one, too.

suprefan
08-20-2008, 12:33 PM
Well keep looking, dont know why you keep saying you will, when you arent on there emailing like crazy....

Boourns
08-20-2008, 12:35 PM
I've emailed several people on there. Zero responses. Most want too much money, though. $500 for a pair in section H? Keep dreaming. Out of the first 20 listings, 2 or 3 aren't scalp posts or broker site spam.

Ugh, once tickets are spoken for, people should take down their ads.

suprefan
08-20-2008, 12:41 PM
Dreaming of what, why dont you check ebay and see that that reflects the market spending on tickets like that. Its dead center, super seats to boot, what do you expect.

Boourns
08-20-2008, 12:43 PM
It may be dead center, but the band still looks like ants from there.

menikmati
08-20-2008, 12:46 PM
I don't care who it is, $500 is too much to see a concert....people who would pay that are fools.

Boourns
08-20-2008, 12:51 PM
Yeah, rich retards ruin everything for real people.

suprefan
08-20-2008, 12:52 PM

Would you rather be a section higher than that, where sound delays begin to be an issue?

08-20-2008, 12:54 PM
Thanks for the info supre... i knew you would pull through =) I thought the pool would be just GA standing like at the Greek. So that is kind of a relief cause now i dont have to worry about getting there too early.

Boourns
08-20-2008, 12:54 PM
I've been in P2 for Arcade Fire and John Williams and the sound seemed fine, despite the distance and science of sound. Everyone on-stage still looked like ants, of course, just baby ants.

I actually enjoyed House of Cards live more than I thought I would. Kind of romantic-sounding. Also, I noticed this set list had no Gloaming or Pyramid Song. FAIL. I'm so glad I got Pyramid Song both nights if they are not playing that every night. And fuck, how could you choose between Paranoid Android and Idioteque? They're both fucking awesome tracks.

Well it's raining pretty steadily and 64 here in Auburn. Thank god the main floor is covered at White River. Just a few more hours...

I prefer this pool seating chart:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y200/frankatcoachella/poolchart.jpg

350 seats, yes I counted. If they took out the seats, it would hold twice as many. But that's good for us...more room to move around. Hopefully I can get on the wall during the stage rush. Third row aisle should give me an advantage.

I'd recommend that short people stick to the seats but move back a couple rows if they can't get against the "rail" because then they'll be able to see over people's heads.

indietron
08-20-2008, 01:04 PM
That is great Boourns thanks alot. Is the pool slanted at all so the seats in the back are higher up than the ones in front?

Boourns
08-20-2008, 01:05 PM
I think I read that here, but I don't know for sure. It's been a long time since 2003.

Ok so a few thought here about House of Cards and Faust ARP. First off, I love Faust Arp on the album. Namely because of the beautiful strings it has. It makes it sound like Radiohead doing a Beatles track with is a A+ in my book. House of Cards was always a little questionable for me. I kinda liked the version they were playing in 06. It had a little more pep to it. I like the version on the album because of the spaceyness it has too it. Live, I could go either way. I like it live but like many of you, I would like to sacrifice it for something more incredible.

Another track that was of some contention before. Bangers N Mash. I really liked the version the played on their 06 tour and was disappointed when I heard what they did with it when it was recorded. However, I love how it is played live now. Especially with the lights and how they worked in it. Any thoughts on that?

amyzzz
08-20-2008, 01:43 PM
I like the album version of bangers n mash better than the live version. It has a nice slow groove on the album and it sounds too fast and goofy live.

suprefan
08-20-2008, 01:47 PM
The old original version of Bangers is the best one.. Also Jigsaw had much better guitar work the first time around then now...

suprefan
08-20-2008, 04:13 PM
Red Rocks is AEG, you know the company that owns Goldenvoice?

Trust me, at the deal table, Live Nation knew that there would be shows they wouldnt be able to do such as Hollywood Bowl and Sb Bowl. Those are places they had wanted to play and venues they wanted to also. Hewitt and Silva and Nederlander probably had to ante up as much as LN was paying per show as it is. In the end, Live Nation got the bulk of the shows due to having venues in every market they wanted, if they had gone with AEG, they wouldve been playing in some random cities for sure....

If Radiohead play the Rip in California or Seattle, I will burn all my Radiohead cds....

The Rip was full band!!! I managed to get on the rail between Thom and Ed and the crowd was incredibly chill and well behaved.

So I thought this setlist was better than last night (fucking 5 songs from Kid A). In Limbo was fucking incredible. The band was much happier last night, and Thom was grinning ear to ear several times throughout the show. The Faust Arp goof up + Neil Young cover was pretty hilarious, and Thom spoke more before You and Whose ARmy (about WTO protests) than I have ever heard him talk at a show.

Highlights were TSH (much better this night), CutW (which started alittle shaky but was insane at the end, all out Thom screaming this time), HtdC, Pyramid Song, Dollars and Cents (best version I've heard of this song yet), In Limbo, and a masterful version of Street Spirit.

I would have been happy with a little more variation, but hey 11 different songs i hard to complain about. And House of Cards was dropped.

Interesting notes on the setlist (which was thrown at my head by a roadie, I passed it off to someone who wanted it after reading it). "Wolf at the Door/Myxamatosis" was crossed off and In Limbo was written in. Also, "House of Cards/House to Disappear" seemed to indicate that HoC might have been played in it's place if they had chosen to.

This was easily one of the best Radiohead shows I've been to. Right up there with Gorge 01 and Berkeley night 2.

wmgaretjax
08-21-2008, 10:17 AM

Last nights set was good and I enjoyed it, but it was nowhere near as good as Vancouvers set. Talk Show Host and Street Spirit were probably the two tracks that stood out the most. Also, as Jared said, the end of Climbing Up The Walls was intense. It was also awesome to hear more OK Computer stuff like No Surprises and Lucky.
However, The Rip was the best song I heard last night, and I didn't even see them play it. It was a full band and it sounded absofuckinglutely amazing. If any dates on this tour get it, I will be supremely jelous.
Whats the deal with the setlist from last night? The second encore is missing a song. I forget which song, but it is missing one.
Also, I think I should mention that they should always play Faust Arp. Both nights I saw them something hilarious happened when they played it, so I have nothing but good feelings towards that song. Thom did look happier in general last night. He also kind of had a Jack White look. Red pants with a black shirt and black vest. It was also amazing being so close to Johnny Greenwood. He was rocking the fuck out last night.
But yes, good show, it didn't blow me away like the Vancouver show did, but I still enjoyed it.
Oh, and Jared, were you wearing a yellow coat? Because I saw guy on barrier, roughly where you expained, wearing a yellow coat and I thought he was you, but I wasn't sure...

That's not even my point though, it's that people complain about this show getting such and such song and this show only getting this song or that. When in the end, it doesn't even matter. What matters is that you were there.

Right up there with Gorge 01 and Berkeley night 2.

funny enough the 2 nights at APW was the same with a difference in 11 songs....I just started listening to a boot of the Gorge 01 show and it is amazing....

Yeah, they seem to believe that playing a song multiple times in one region is better for the fans than playing it once in several different regions.

I think they just get excited by songs. Or want to perfect a performance, and once it hits the spot they want it to, they are satisfied and it slips away for a while.

Phil comes out and drops an American dollar bill out in front of Thom and Jonny and runs away laughing. Thom and Jonny crack up completely to loud cheers. Thom tries again, says "Fuck it!", but then continues and finishes the song.]

how are you getting to the bowl? Theres not much around there, unless you want to schlep to hollywood and vine which is best avoided anyway. FOod at the bowl is expensive, but good. You can pack your own dinner and bring it to the show early though. ( i don't think they allow booze or any glass at this show though)

Eat somewhere around where you will take a shuttle or train or something.

Burbank has some great food and you can park at the LA Zoo and take the bus. that's what i'm doing.

choza mama ---Purevian food

Chinese Deli--small hole in the wall, heard it has amazing food)

Ribs USA

Mortons if you are a high roller

Lots of stuff in Toluca Lake too

The camera? Very nice but I can't afford that.

It sure was awesome when some asshole security at Universa; made me leave my seat and go check my camera into the security room. Especially since there were 10 other cameras near me and unlike them, my flash was off. And security had to get through someone taking video to get to me.

If I can get a camera in time, I'll stuff it in my crotch or my shoe just in case. The Santa Barbara Bowl is a bigger concern, since they apparently make more of an effort to enforce their fascist policies. Imagine being told while in line to go put it back in your car. I'll put my camera in a condom and swallow it for that show.

Please stop hitting on me. I want to be friends first! (I wanna say "Chris", am I right? I don't like people referring to me by first name without me not even knowing their name, it's kinda rude to be honest)

Agreed.

My reasonable wish is TNA both nights (at the concert and after). Then Dollars and Cents and IMBW both at least once, that is all.

White River show was great, but I was slightly disappointed with the setlist. No Exit Music, Airbag, Polyethylene, Planet Telex, Paranoid Android...I've always wanted to hear Like Spinning Plates or Life In A Glasshouse live, but that will never happen. Anyway, The Gloaming and Faust Arp (fuck ups included) kicked ass, as did Reckoner, Videotape, How to Disappear Completely, Idioteque, There There, Bodysnatchers, Nude, All I Need and Weird Fishes. The second encore was pretty effin' sweet as well.
