what else would you rather be at? Lolla is going to kick ass this year. I can't wait. Then I got radiohead again in SF, and then SD.

I canceled Lolla because of ATP NY.

best decision ever.

Sushov23
05-10-2008, 03:20 PM
that's cool, I would take Lolla over ATP but hey that's just how I feel about it.

idrive1life
05-10-2008, 03:22 PM
Yeah, I'm taking intimacy of ATP MBV NYC (+ Mogwai & co.) over likely over crowdedness in Lolla Chicago (everybody except Radiohead and RATM plus some bands ... I <3 Lolla/Radiohead!). It looks like I can go to both but I can only do a quick vacation to Europe because of that.

I was at 4th row when I shot Pyramid Song (not as great as my Paranoid Android video where I moved up to 2nd or 3rd row but you'll enjoy it ...) in full.

Slow Radiohead songs are great....so long as the crowd behaves themselves. How many times have you heard Exit Music with a sh!t load of drunken fans screaming their asses off ? Any time they bust out an acoustic guitar is a time for for quiet.
this is why you bring a knife. or some other tool of destruction. anyone who decides to disturb my enjoyment during nude will promptly get their throat slit

nice fucking pics idrive. the obama one gave me much joy. keep up the good work.

Wow thanks so much for the pics everyone...i am SO EXCITED! I can't watch the videos. They make me too happy and I feel as if I might explode from joy. You guys all had such great seats! I wish my seats were that good this coming August...but I'm just happy to be going. =)

I'm sorry if this has been asked already...but does anyone know when WASTE will send out the tickets/when we'll be getting them etc. I'll be leaving early in June and will be away until I fly in for the shows in LA so...do you think there's a way I could set up will call somehow if they don't come in time and they're just sitting in my mailbox all useless and what not?

I updated on this situation a few pages back. BUT, Ill mention it again. As of right now, seat assignments might not happen for a couple more weeks sicne they are still dealing with the first leg of the U.S. dates. After seat assignments come out, you will be notified when your tickets ship. From what WASTE has said in responses to other peoples questions, they look to not mail out your tickets until about 2 weeks before the show date. Tickets will be mailed through the post office with signature confirmation required upon delivery. If nobody is home to sign a notice will be left to go pick up in person. Will call is not an option unless tickets were lost in the mail pretty much. Also, please make sure your DELIVERY adress is correct and where you want it. If it isnt, email them and they can change it. WASTE needs that adress to be correct, and it does not have to match the billing adress of your card. And if you want to ask them more questions go onto the WASTE ticket site and email them, its that simple..... Anything else?

Its perfectly fine with me. I wish they did that Night 1 (non-stop In Rainbows then 14 old songs).

wmgaretjax
05-11-2008, 07:17 PM
I think House of Cards is a definite "not needed every night" song

I think it's a solid song, it's just definitely weak on the album. While it's better live, I think there are so many songs that could take it's place from time to time. I can understand that they want everyone to witness the new material... But I think they could get away with only doing these ones every single night:

Nude
Arpeggi
All I Need
Videotape

Everything else can weave in and out every other night or something... You'd end up with most of In Rainbows (6 or 7 songs) but without so much weight on the set list.

Same goes for Bangers and Mash, no need for that every night.

I mean... All of this was played pretty heavily last tour. While this is bigger, they could ease off it. Play some new stuff (they are recording some at the end of this month, why not try it out?)... It's impossible to really be unsatisfied with a Radiohead setlist though...

Sushov23
05-11-2008, 07:29 PM
I like that they are playing most of In rainbows, it's their right to do that anyway. Plus I'm thinking that the average Radiohead fan who got tickets wants to hear a lot of In Rainbows because it is fresh in their minds.

idrive1life
05-11-2008, 07:31 PM
16. Bodysnatchers

Reckoner is my most favorite in In Rainbows (on record and live ... then All I Need). They should play it each night and I am so glad they did in 1st 3 nights. IT is the song that I yelled "YEAH!!!!" and really got into the show each time they played IT.

Boourns
05-11-2008, 07:33 PM

You have probably seen Creep performed a couple of times though. If I choose ONE song for them to play, it would definately be Creep. You want to hear ''the song?'' wow man, come on, thats typical ''song I want to here''. I never even wanted to hear Creep first time I even saw them play. It didnt happen until 2003. I was like ''aaah cool, everyone is singing and waay more into it now''. The my mind went ''moving along to better songs''.

If they played Creep in L.A. (odds are they will) whatever, but I wont be like ''OMGZZZZZ''. The Radiohead fans who know whats up, dont care for the song that much.

suprefan
05-11-2008, 08:19 PM
Its not that rare anymore. The ''rare'' time was like 1998 to 2003. 5 years not played. I have a bootleg where they are going to do an encore, the crowd is screaming ''CREEP!! CREEP!!'' Thom replies ''you are dreaming''

I'm surprised not one song has creeped???? in from pablo honey yet.

I know they have rehearsed a lot of songs for this tour, but in '03 at the Shoreline, before playing Lurgee Thom said this:

"We don't often play songs from our first record. There are many reasons for this. Not gonna tell you any of 'em."

Creep is just one big sing-a-long and I would prefer it to not replace another song within the set list.

And blame everyone showing up at the same time cause they think The Liars are lame. And assuming its a breeze to get in. Lets keep in mind parking is free for all these shows, cause the cost of parkign was included in the price, so its a matter of getting people in there and directing them to park. Think if they had to stop and pay? It wouldve been even worse.

The Venue should have been prepared, its not like the rain was a surprise or the press of people showing up to a sold out concert.

suprefan
05-11-2008, 09:44 PM
The venue was ready, odds are its designed like any amp like that is. Small road to get in or out. Its sold out, as mentioned before, leave early to make sure you get there, especially if its sold out. I dont care if you like the opener or not, but you coudl sit in yoru car and then go in.

fikus222

Yes, it is always better to error on the side of early rather than later.

The last time I was cutting it close heading to a show, a Helicopter landed on the hwy a half mile in front of us, making us 30 minutes late to the show, therefore missing the band we wanted to see. So you never know what is going to get in the way.

Yeah I remember for street scene last year getting in late on Sunday because of heavy traffic(car accident or something on the 805) and missing voxtrot.

How is the recording of WPB, is it better than Tampa ?

I got a 24bit of WPB that I am too lazy to figure out how to use Adobe to convert to 16bit.

The Charlotte that I got off Dime today is pretty good.

Yeah the Dime of Charlotte is being uploaded right now on megaupload. I was going through so many I fudged it. West Palm sounds clean, waaaay better than Tampa. It pans a bit, but its fine, crowd isnt terrible, I can deal with this one just fine...

I assume Matt is stuck in the rain, I dont know how far he lives from Bristow. Im thinking getting out of the show took a while? As bad as it sounded to get in late, getting out had to suck.

Thanks for the WPB link. I just got a new computer after my old one permabanned itself from IRL and have about a trillion gigabytes of stuff to download. Hopefully it'll be up for a while...

I still haven't seen The Office, Smallville, South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy since before Coachella. Gotta add those to the list too, I guess.

Hey everyone, finally got back. That rain was a real bitch - low 50s with a constant, steady miserable rain, standing in it for about 6 hours

... but Radiohead was so damn worth it.

Here is the correct setlist (previous ones i've read in this thread messed up on the encore orders), taken from the stage crew (i have a pic i'll post later)

1) All I Need
2) Jigsaw
3) Lucky
4) 15 Step
5) Nude
6) Pyramid Song
7) Arpeggi
8) Myxomatosis
9) Idioteque
10) Faust Arp (it took Johnny and Thom a few tries to get this one right)
11) Videotape
12) Paranoid Android
13) Just
14) Reckoner
15) Everything in its Right Place
16) Bangers N Mash
17) Bodysnatchers
-----
18) Like Spinning Plates
19) Optimistic
20) Karma Police
21) Go Slowly
22) Planet Telex
-----
23) Fake Plastic Trees
24) The National Anthem
25) House of Cards

Karma Police was dedicated to "our boys on Capitol Hill". Also, Fake Plastic Trees was dedicated to those who were/had been stuck in traffic. It should also be noted that FPT wasn't on the original setlist for the show tonight - it must have been decided upon at the last minute.

And yeah, there was alot of flooding in Northern VA, and it caused one of the main exits out of the festival to shut down. It took us about 90 minutes to finally get out of traffic. We finally got home around 3 AM. (it's about a 2 hour drive from my place to the venue).

I heard the soundcheck, and got excited for DITNU, but oh well. I still got my Pyramid song and Spinning Plates to make up for it. Man, what a night.

I'll post pics up sometime tomorrow.

Also, they couldn't use the giant screens to the sides of the stage because of the weather, so the people in the very back were screwed for vision.

Nice. I'm glad you made it to the show and back home man! Indeed what a night. Hopefully, yeah, get some rest and come back for more details later.

15 Steps! So they played all ten songs in In Rainbows (thats what I wanted but I'm really glad they finally did it even I was not there). Total of 25 songs played because of last-minute inclusion of FPT. Thats really nice to make up for terrible weather. I feel really bad for all those who missed it and/or who did not make it thru the end of that show. *I heard some people at the lawn were forced to abandon/get out off the show early*

By the way, the Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta, hands-down, is the music venue (I've been to) with the worst parking lot.

My fav from OK Computer; Just, Planet Telex, Fake Plastic Trees, some of the best of The Bends...seriously, this setlist is a 9.9/10... the only thing that could possibly make it better for me is if they added Street Spirit/The Bends...

you are lucky Matt, I hope you had fun man.

Even though I was totally drenched and freezing, still enjoyed the show very much. This was my 4th time seeing Radiohead, and they never fail to impress me. I would have liked to hear Exit Music (my favorite RH song), but they more than made up for it playing Fake Plastic Trees and Like Spinning Plates and Karma Police. First time hearing FPT since I first saw them back in 95. I love In Rainbows, and as expected hearing them live was even better. I was really glad they did Jigsaw.

I feel bad for the people that didn't make it in because of the flooding. I guess we lucked out. Left Downtown D.C. at about 4:45 and arrived there around 6:30. Getting out of Nissan though was a total pain in the ass, but that was expected.

Amazing but How to Completely Disappear, The Tourist / The Bends and Airbag / (Nice Dream) replacing 3 of those will make it perfect. j/k

Agreed.

They definitely need to replace 1 or 2 or the In Rainbows tunes, this might happen as the tour goes on.

Makes me dream of the 6 Kid A/Amnesiac shows I saw years back... NOW THOSE WERE PERFECT SET LISTS! Esp. when they finished the regular set with Spinning plates on piano and the last song was Lucky or Street Spirit.

Just woke up..man I still can't get over last night. I just checked and one of my friends that was on the lawn is apparently sick, and her phone is broken - all because of the rain. Really bad stuff.

You guys who have yet to see them on this tour are in for a real treat. That light show that they have is stellar. The National Anthem and Paranoid Android are amazing. And Johnny played his guitar with an e-bow for Pyramid Song. Beautiful.

Pics will be up momentarily

Nissan may have some explaining to do. But I think it was just the combination of the weather and leaving late for the show.

Well I showed up around 4, and had to stand in the rain for 2 hours before they finally opened the doors. But I guess not everyone can get there early.

Nissan could have handled the show alot better - there was only one way to leave the parking lot; the other direction out was blocked due to flooding. They never predicted, while making the venue and planning its location, that flooding could happen, thus causing them to force all of the traffic in one direction? I've been reading the forums over at 9:30 Club (music venue in DC), and the fans are practically boycotting the venue.

Apparently, at one point, people were turned down when they got to the parking lot because it was full. Man, that must have really sucked.

Rained on in Washington again
To everyone who made it, and put up with the torrents on the lawn, and came early to catch the Liars and our show, thank you so much for braving the deluge. I hope you heard what you came for, the music and lights diverting you from the wet. We got out of there around three am, and the pic shows Jonny waiting in the loading bay whilst the water streams across the tarmac. Anything else?

thanks supre.

I just got great news from my best friend, he will be in town long enough to see Radiohead at OSL.

He teaches Engrish in Japan and has been a long time Radiohead fan. He saw them at the SF Fillmore in '96, he was the one who gave me GA tix to the Warfield Radiohead show in '97 as a Birfday present, he saw the 2 day Thom solo shows at the Shoreline in '01 and was with me at the Shoreline show in '03.

Another good friend, who now lives in Alaska and I haven't seen in 2 years, will also be with us at OSL, his first Radiohead show. This is going to be amazing !!!!!

Which leads me to believe something epic will be in store for APW....I would be happy with just the stage set up as it is now...

I doubt very seriously if they even bring (as a whole) that particular rig complete to APW. Set up time is greater than what a festival allows one would think. Although the two night thing could warrant it.

Don't bank on anything other than what you seen at the most. Prolly a little less. More streamlined.

didn't coachella fail in it's first year because of the horror that was woodstock? A lot of people got turned off by festivals. Or am I off on that one?

RH brought the whole production to Coachella in 2004. It was set up and ready to go in advance. Did you forget this? Itll all be there, they have the time to bring it in the day before and have it ready to go for the 2 nights.

No - they spent way too much cash getting the thing off the ground and didn't sell enough tickets. Woodstock was 5 years earlier and any effects were long gone (for the most part). Word of mouth was a big deal when you put something on in the desert. They just did have the luxury of that like they do now, hell it took a reunited Jane's Addiction to save Coachella truthfully in 2001, if that didn't happen, that coulda been it right then and there.

People just weren't used to the Euro festival format here either.

I read they cut the amount of lights down by 25% for Coachella, due to the stage setup (side areas)

but yeah - it should be the same get up as it is now seeing the time they have to set it up... but I just don't expect the stature of liberty to start flickering to the beat of idoteque.

yeah, I remember in the local news(indio), people where talking about that. I was only a freshman in high school, and I remember my mom didn't let me go, because she knew about what happened at woodstock, and she got all worried. I actually had a ticket(it was an 8th grade promotion gift), and my mom wound up not letting me go. I knew about A LOT of stories like that after everything that happened with woodstock.

I gotta tell you I am MUCH MORE EXCITED for the pavilion tour shows. For one I have great seats and PIT tickets.

APW at times is going to be hell because you have the entire attendance jockeying for a good spot to see Thom and co., might (will) be rough going in that respect. So given that, I expect about 20,000 more people at APW than their ampitheater dates, naturally. So I kinda dig the more manageable (I guess) crowds on their tour proper.

I also still expect to get a wee bit more tunes, maybe by a song or two, but I don't think there will be a big difference in set length, because APW is basically a two night RH show. Lord knows its the only reason they've sold any tickets.

I think the two are very close in quality, the crowd is better in Bristow, but the Planet Telex has some issues with it.

Edit:

By issues, I mean the Planet Telex recording is distorted, not that the band flubbed it. :)

Edit:

Apparently a recording made by 'Breathmint' of WPB is supposedly of amazing quality. I'm not sure if it is the one I already have, so I am dling it right now for comparison to the Bristow show.

I just read over at the 9:30 Club forums that LiveNation is giving away lawn tickets to the Camden NJ show to those who missed the Bristow show due to weather and not being able to get in. That's pretty nice of them, seeing as they are in no ways obligated to do that.

it is smart business, yeah. But its also them being nice, because they could simply sit back and argue to the people who missed out "well it was a sold out show, you should have known better than to show up at the last minute" and not compensate at all.

Hmmm....your argument here is flawed...I saw Radiohead in Japan 8 months prior to Coachella 04 and even if 25% less lights were used you couldn't tell the difference...the only difference between the shows was the sound system in Japan was loads better...but the Coachella performance KILLED....As far as stage set up times...Wasn't Daft Punk set up in 30 minutes? Loads more stuff going on there then at Radiohead's current set up...Same goes for Roger Waters....both of those Massive productions were set up VERY quickly...I think, given that Goldenvoice has gotten MUCH better at being organized and set up much better now, there should be no major issues. Also, they are giving them as much time as they would get at a normal show...though the idea of the statue of liberty flickering is pretty fucking wicked...
