This is purely speculation, but Sonic Youth's new album comes out June 9th and the Hollywood Bowl has many 'To Be Announced' dates on their website for the summer. To add on to that, 3 TBA dates for the Bowl are scheduled in July on Sundays, which is Special Performance day, usually designated for pop and rock acts. That's just me guessing though.

Last two times they were thru LA they played the Greek and the Wiltern, respectively. The Wiltern show was to promote their new, major label album, and the Greek show was for the Daydream Nation tour. I doubt they'll be at the Bowl. I hope not, too, because I want them in a smaller venue. I'd love to see something like a 5 night run at the Fonda. I'd be there 5 nights.

This is true, and I agree with you, I'd rather not see them at the Bowl. However, if Of Montreal can headline the Bowl, anything is possible. Who knows, I'm probably wrong.

this is a good question. I work 3 blocks from the Rickshaw Stop and I'll probably walk over at 5pm and see what it looks like. It is an ALL AGES show, so that kinda blows b/c all the teenagers in the city will be out of school and on it probably at 2pm or some crap. I don't have that sort of patience unless it was a weekend and I had a 12-pack. If you are just rolling solo though, you have better odds of working your way in there somehow. Good luck. I RSVP'd for tonight's show at the Mezzanine, but that will likely be a clusterf*ck too. We'll see...

ive been to plenty of the myspace secret shows, first off call the venue and find out if they are handing out wristbands, sometimes they give them out in the morning/afternoon. if you have been to one before (minus the cure one where it was a different wristband) it is always the same yellow wristband, it use to be a paper one but now its like a normal wristband so if you have an old one it will let you in.

so just call and find out if they are giving out wristbands and make sure you keep it if you get it :)

No Doubts site states they will have ticket specials of $10 to $25 tickets. Thatll be lawn and I figure Live Nation offers the 4 pack ticket thing that way too. All those venues except the arenas have lawns. I mean you can say '' hey I paid $30 to see No Doubt'' yeah from the lawn, not in a seat. If you just care to get into the building, sure why not. But seats will cost a bit of money thats for sure.

the big venues they played in were all GA shows, so you could sit in a seat if you wanted.

also the fillmore has no seats where i saw them. the edge in palo alto had no seats, shoreline had seats but that was in 1995 with weezer and my ticket was 25.50 and i was in a seat, and the san jose state event center had seats but it was ga and the stage was standing area....

ampitheatre shows with lawn and seats different then a ga type venue or one with floor area/seats. i should have been more specific.

ah, i see. good thinking. i'll call later today. i really want to go to this, but driving 2 hours just to be denied would suck.

did you find out if they will start handing out wristbands earlier in the day? If so, I would grab you one if I could and just wait for you to make it. I work close by and could cruise over anytime throughout the day today.

last night was remarkably easy to get into the Mezzanine. Deerhunter slayed. Their last song before their encore was fantastic. Full-on melodic spazz out into a gentle ending. So glad I went, but paying for it today.

I have had to use TicketWeb outlets for Chop Suey shows, which isn't as bad as going through TM, but obviously not as good as if they had a box office of their own.

Ooops, yep checked a calendar. Yeah, last year in September they played at avalon on a Saturday night also and it was not live, it was just another typical night at avalon and they did a dj set. Friday night wouldve for sure been tht, this could be different, but I wouldnt get my hopes up unless I saw a flyer saying otherwise.

Chris Cornell's presale tickets are $35 plus a $4.90 service fee, there is no way I am paying those prices...I might and I stress, might, pay half that to see him (mostly because my wife wants to see him again).

it doesn't matter because Chris Cornell isn't worth a single penny, but $40 incl fees is nothing for a show nowadays... look at what other bands are charging. A Keane ticket at the Palladium comes out to $57. Kings of Leon at the Forum... $58 and it's almost sold out. Iron and Wine at the Troubadour is $75 per pair.

Yes, I do realize that it is 2009. But you must also realize that you are paying LA prices and I am in Seattle. Nevertheless, my original point was concerning the fact that I did not feel this tour was worth $40 to me.

Iron and Wine's tickets for the solo tour in May are $25 here (and I could care less about the other two bands you mentioned).

i got into Deerhunter last night! wooooo! with forty or so people to spare. we got there at 7ish and the rush followed. The Pains . . . were excellent their material translated well live. Bradford compared them to the sounds of 1991. as for Deerhunter, wow. that's it. i'm deaf in my left ear now. he taught me a new euphemism for female genitalia: hatchet wound.

Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction roll out U.S. tour dates

By Alex Young on February 28th, 2009

In less than three months, Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction will officially embark on what will be the road trip on the summer. The two-high profile outfits, one of which (NIN) will be capping off the end, while the other (Jane’s) will be celebrating a fresh start, have unveiled dates for a two North American tour scheduled to kick off in late May at the Sasquatch! Music Festival.

The current trek consists of 25 dates, all of which will take place at outdoor venues. Of them, 24 will feature the co-headlining extravaganza of Trent Reznor and Perry Farrell, highlighted by stops at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado and the Jones Beach Theater in Wantaugh, NY. However, as of now, it does not appear Jane’s Addicition will be joining Nine Inch Nail’s at this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival.

What about Lollapalooza? Well, there is a noticeable lack of Chicago dates, and it seems a shoe-in that Perry will take his band to his festival. But don’t expect Trent and Co. in Chicago for back-to-back headlining appearances; they are already scheduled to appear at Summer Sonic in Japan that weekend.

Ticket information is still forthcoming.

In related news, Jane’s Addiction also used this week to officially unveil details of a brand new box set. Scheduled for release on April 21st via Rhino Records, A Cabinet of Curiosities will offer a slew of previously unheard demos, rarities, and live performances across three CDs and one DVD. The latter will also include the previously unavailable documentary, Soul Kiss. Check out the full tracklist after the dates…

I know, by the end of tonight i'll know. It's hard because I'm also going to Bloc Party on the 15th. So if I get TVOTR tickets that will be 3 days of driving to Pomona/LA, and then the 3 days for coachella. That might be a bit too much for me.

You think? So when do we find out?

I got now:

3/7 M83 @ Disney Hall
3/8 RX Bandits @ Chain Reaction
3/15- 16 Radiohead w/ Kraftwerk @ El Foro Sol
3/23 Pj Harvey @ The el Rey
4/17 - 19 Coachella
5/16 Mogwai @ The Orpheum

The last 2 Paramount lot shows were headline gigs for The Killers and Katy Parry and they had side electro stages.

I just couldn't bring my self to go for the electro. It was overpriced, parking is bad at paramount, etc.

We shall see, maybe this one will surprise me.

I've never been to Bardot so I went onto Yelp to read reviews. First posted review on the page is classic...

If you have a sudden urge to dress up like a Hollywood DOUCHE (fedora hat - check. ed hardy shirt - check. throwback hightops - check)....THIS is your spot! Sadly, Ryan Goslin was not on 'the ones and twos' the night I went, but I still got to drop $9 on Amstel Lites...which is always nice.

Hey, isn't that Nicole Ritchie? Oh no wait, that's the busboy.

Anyone have an idea what KROQ is announcing Monday Morning? Judging by the adlib thing on KROQ.com its looks like its a show called Kevin and Beans March Madness. Maybe this is replacing the LA/Inland Invasion?

any parking tips for the el rey?

Across from the El Rey there is a small street that leads to a community of old apartment complexes, there is a ton of non-permit parking around there.

I have never really cared for No Doubt but I don't find peoples interest in them insulting or anything like that. They were one of the biggest acts around for a few years.

i was at gwen's solo show in irvine last tour and when no doubt came out for the encore it was pretty damn amazing. everyone i know in my area was into them back in the day, probably a lot to do with seeing the band progress from club band to one of the biggest acts in the world.
