Did TV on the Radio actually become a good, consistent live band, or are people flipping out due to the scarcity of the ticket?

I'm surprised Blonde Redhead at Echoplex hasn't sold out yet. I'm contemplating getting my ticket but I'm not getting paid again before Coachella. Anyone think they'll last till the week after the festival?

It's a valid question. I'm going because it's in a tiny venue a mere blocks away from my house and I'm curious to see what they're like in a small room (having only seen them in a festival setting). Of the 4 times I've seen them, I enjoyed one of those sets quite a bit and the others were pretty meh.

We shall see......

These shows WILL sell out, but I don't think they will for a couple weeks, at least. They did do two shows in LA and one in Pomona last year, and they took a while to sell out. I know these are smaller venues, but the fact that they just did all those shows not long ago should keep the demand at a reasonable level. Then again, who knows?

I've seen them a lot, and more times than not I've liked their show. It'll be nice to see them at the Fonda again and hopefully one Matthew Fox will be there again as well. Plus effing GLASSER is opening for them so this bill is stacked.

Explain the situation...

If I go to Ticketmaster or Livenation I get "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server."

If I go on it with my cell phone on the wifi in my home, same thing. But on the cell network I can get on everything just fine. IP block/ban?

I did get tickets yesterday for the KJEE show in sb with my brother, but I wouldn't say I attempted to get better seats anymore then the normal amount of times I usually try. Hrmmm what do?

but security settings on a home network shouldnt just randomly block after you took care of business recently.

You have virus protection? firewall? check your whitelist and see if it got tacked on as a site you arent allowed to access.

cutterbutter

Nope. No virus protection. Only firewall we have is the router. I'll do some more looking.

So Foals were fucking amazing last night. I just can't get over how great they were. I was expecting it to be good... but they blew me away. They are a lot more enegetic and spastic than I thought and their lead singer had violent meltdown (in the best way possible) during the last song they played. They are a tight as fuck band too. All of their build ups sound even bigger and more full live too. I just can't say enough good things about this show.

Do not fucking miss Foals at Coachella.

Success of Janet Jackson's NUMBER ONES TOUR prompts extension of U.S. and European legs until fall.

As a result of massive sellouts for performances in Asia and North America, the JANET JACKSON ‘Number Ones: Up Close & Personal Tour’ is being expanded. JANET’s largest ever world tour will now be vastly extended to even more global cities in addition to the currently scheduled performances in London, Paris and Monte Carlo. The North American leg of the tour, which is currently underway, will be continued in the fall after a scheduled spring and summer in Europe. Originally slated as a world tour of 35 cities to match the 35 number one singles from her double-disc album, NUMBER ONES, JANET will now greatly exceed her planned dates. The high demand from key venues on several continents will bring Janet around the world and back again. Several of the concerts on the initial schedule were sold-out in the first ten minutes of availability...

I saw Janet in 1998 with Usher in DC. If she is half as good as she was back then, then she's still terrific. Here is a review from wikipedia:

In reviewing her concert at the MCI Center in Washington DC, Richard Harrington of The Washington Post commented: "Jackson looked fabulous, danced fabulous, sang as close to fabulous as she ever has and in the end provided a fabulous two hours of entertainment that was equal parts rock concert, Las Vegas revue and Broadway musical."[4] Steve Jones of USA Today remarked: "Janet Jackson had a sellout crowd for the kickoff of her first U.S. tour in four years, and she blew the fans away with imaginative staging and sheer exuberance."[5] Critic J.D. Considine noted that "[o]n albums, Jackson's sound isn't defined by her voice so much as by the way her voice is framed by the lush, propulsive production of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. No surprise, then, that her concert took a similar approach, treating Jackson's voice as just one component in the overall spectacle ... But even though Jackson showed strength from time to time—her singing on "Black Cat" was commanding enough to hold its own against the wailing electric guitar—she's hardly a vocal powerhouse."

One of my friends who saw him earlier this year at MSG is pissed that I got my tickets at $25 a pop. (although I'm sure she won't be as mad after she comes out for one of the remaining 18 dates)

Best upside to the $25 tickets though, if they keep this up for the rest of the dates I'll be able to hit many more than I would have thought possible.

Not only was this so so awesome (after the first few songs, anyway - they either took a couple to hit their stride or the sound guy took a few to get everything to sound right), I had been expecting to hear only things I didn't recognize - I only really know the super early stuff and was under the impression they don't really play that anymore - and that wasn't the case. It was a good crowd, too, and a surprisingly good fit for the venue (considering their decorative iron chains and skank platform motif). Great show.

There's a lunar eclipse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2011_lunar_eclipse) on June 15. It won't be visible from LA, though.

Either way, it's a full moon, so should be a great night for a show in the cemetery, even if we won't actually be looking at the dark side of the moon.

The first few songs were weak as previously stated, and the slower songs didn't do a whole lot for me, but I really enjoyed the rest. Emmy the Great and Gang Gang Dance on the same night in New York. The former plays at 8, but the latter show starts at 9 and has an opening band and dj, so I should make it on time. Really hope gang gang plays "thru and thru" because that should be killer live.

Poor mogwai. Haven't visa woes plagued them before?

During the 90s, I saw RATM 3 times, but I don't think I could stand the kind of crowd they'd attract nowadays.

I was at the Palladium show last year and thought it was going to be a riot, they even had a massive force of cops out just in case. But it seems that their fan base has grown up and actually wants to watch them play now. There is still pitting but it wasn't as ape shit as I expected it to be.

I guess it's a big deal because RATM didn't play for the large demographic of people who couldn't get tickets because of their zipcode in socal but i really hope there's more better bands playing to make this less than meh or even some less known awesome bands like Lighting Bolt so I can get close. Especially because of what the ticket price is going be at least $76 dollars.

I'm glad you guys liked the show. I had a great time with Shpongle at the Key Club of all places. At Coachella with a big set up must have been great.

Do most people do actual night-monopolizing activities on Mother's Day? I'm with The Raveonettes. I don't see it as a day that needs to be worked around unless you're planning some sort of commemorative floral brunch.

Mrs.Hill was extremely fucking good at Coachella like she was timeless aged and her hits were fresh. But $70 is way too much for a single artist unless promise a 30 plus setlist or a great set of artist are playing together.

Also Anyone know what the set time is for Prince tomorrow?

Ended up at the El Rey last night. Major sound issues at the start of the set. She mixed in like half a dozen Bob Marley songs throughout her set. There was plenty of room to move around (prob thanks to the high ticket price). About half way through she really found her groove and really killed it. Got a good amount of video from the front that I'll post soon.

$70 is way too much to drop last minute. The most I've ever spent on a ticket was McCartney at the Bowl last march, and those were $80, knowing I'd be getting a huge bang for my buck.

When did she finally come on last night? Saw the scenestar tweet about her still being a no-show later in the evening.
