Fixed. Might as well forget about Grand Ole' Party once that Dum Dum Girls really gets rolling.
I really hate the new name, and I'm sorely going to miss that band. One of the only musical projects out of San Diego that I ever felt proud of.

NPR has no commercials.
you still have to listen to promo, station ID, and underwriter breaks every 15 or 20 minutes though...and the VO people that do those for NPR are HORRIBLY boring and monotone
EDIT: don't get me wrong though, i love NPR. KCRW, one of the L.A. NPR affiliates is by far the best radio station here. plus we have henry rollins on saturday nights! i loved his show when it was on Indie.
Does anyone listen to KXLU anymore? I was addicted, but it's almost impossible to get besides streaming online now because there's a Christian station that impedes on the signal here in the 'Valley

I'm just surprised that anybody even listens to the radio anymore, let alone has a favorite station.
You guys do realize that technology has cured us from ever having to be force fed someone else's choice of music intermixed with inane commercials, right?
while i agree with you and listen to my ipod about 70% of the time, i still turn on the radio every now and then to see if theres anything new i havent heard yet. sure, this board and other places on the net are better ways of getting turned on to new music, but i really dont have the time or motivation to go check out every band mentioned on here. no offense, but alot of you people have real shitty taste. it doesnt happen often, but every now and then i here something new that i like on 94.9. like black joe lewis for instance. i had heard their name on here, but never got around to checking them out. i heard them on 949 one day and was instantly impressed and went and got their album. most of the time though i turn it on, am annoyed to hear the same fuckin silversun pickups song, so go back to my ipod.

PJ night 2 (Seattle) :D
Night 2 >>>>>> Night 1 Yessir! I had Ten club tickets in the back right portion of the floor but never saw my assigned seats, haha. I was about five seats to the right of the center of the floor the entire time. Wow. Tonight was definitlely much heavier than last night. 'Go' live is something to behold. It kinda sorta tore the roof off Key Arena. Wasn't fimiliar with the uber rare song but it sounded great--as did everything from my locale. Eddie introduced it like, "For a while now people have said we should play this one song and we always said, 'NO fucking WAY man' but we're going to play it for you tonight." I like! Very pleased to have heard a sizzling rendition of 'Why Go' but way more so than last night 'Got Some' was absolutely wicked tonight!!! I don't know if it was my location or the band was a little more comfortable with the song but they killed it. Certainly one of the Backspacer tracks that's going to stick around for a while. (No W.M.A. though :( )
The poster tonight was too splendifourous to pass on. I mean look at it!!! :thu

Sometimes I go to a local retail outlet (http://www.ticketmaster.com/h/stateselecttcenters.html?tm_link=tm_ql_3), but I only saved a couple of bucks. For example, the Sounds @ HOB San Diego ended up costing $30.25 instead of the $32.75 if I bought it online. Also if it's time-sensitive (as in, going to sell out in a few minutes), you better hope the person working the ticket sales knows what they're doing -- a lot of the time they need specific event info, then they search and it's a bit of waiting.

Saw Mount Eerie last night and it was just awesome. So much newfound appreciation for that album after seeing the live version in a very intimate setting. Tiny crowd, must have been about forty people there, maybe less. It was really great though, everyone sat down for most of the show, and stood up at the end. Played mostly songs from the new album and I believe a couple from Lost Wisdom, and it was a 6-person band for the whole show. It was quite loud.

the road trip to San Diego to see Flogging Molly worked great. 2 hours from Santa Monica to San Diego. Ate an amazing burrito, dry heaved in a bathroom at an ESPN zone from mixing Coronas and Horchata and caught the best live band in a 1,000 capacity club. So glad I did this instead of the Greek.
Saw 3 cat fights, pretty crazy pit and the greatest security guard ever, literally singing along to every song and giving water to people in the front. Dave gave him a shout out.
Great great show. Again, if you have never seen Flogging Molly you are missing out. I think this was number 11 for me. wow
great openers too. Fitz and the Tantrums and Hepcat were both great, better than most FM openers.

The $99 seats suck btw.. you would have to for sure get floor or a lower level ticket to have a good time. Laddy Gaga puts on a show like Madonna, but better. Cant blame him for grabbing one of the hottest pop acts right now. And Lady Gaga Sahara 2010..... ;)

JAY-Z is undeniably one of the most powerful voices in music today, a multiple Grammy Award winner and an influencer that has resonated with a generation of music fans. He has now added a Los Angeles date to his eagerly-awaited fall tour, a mix of college campus arenas and traditional venues across North America. Jay-Z will now perform at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday, November 8. Tickets go on sale Saturday, October 3 at 10 AM.
Jay-Z’s highly-anticipated new album, The Blueprint 3, was released on September 8. Entertainment Weekly says, “Blueprint is hip-hop as big business, and Jay retains his CEO throne.“
The fall tour is the follow-up to the historic “Mary J. Blige & Jay-Z: Heart of the City” tour where they performed for more than 600,000 fans and received rave reviews at every stop. The 28 date trek grossed more than $35 million.

So the Ghostly International 10 Year Anniversary Show at the Seattle Art Museum was really good last night. Unfortunately due to our time crunch, the only full set we were able to see was Tycho's (which was great BTW), but we were able to see every performer, all of which were very good.
After checking everybody out at SAM, we headed over to the Kid Koala Slew Tour show at the Nectar Lounge. We got there for the opening act, whose name escapes me right now, but they consisted of a turntablist and a guy on keys/vocals/guitar. They were very cool and the vocalist looked a lot like Mos Def. The second act was Adira Amram, whose on stage performance was a complete and utter surprise. Think Peaches mixed in with some Lords of Acid and then sprinkled with some Santogold, it was a hilariously good time. Next came the Slew, it was Kid Koala on 3 tables, with another cat on 3 tables and then the ex-rhythm section from Wolfmother (a bass guitarist/keyboardist and also a drummer). They put on a very good show and played every song from their album. we especially enjoyed the slower songs, as they were more melodic and the 'band' tended to jam/build them up nicely. Good times were had.
One side note, apparently yesterday afternoon US CBP Officers detained the tour bus at the Washington/Canadian border for several hours. I guess CBP wasn't going to allow Kid Koala into the country for some reason or another and it took them forever to get his entry approved. Adira made some funny jokes about it.

From what venues are telling me, those dates are not for sure. They're still working on crossing the T's and dotting the i's. The Indio show is now on the 5th. The Fox show isn't even booked officially yet.
Where did this information come from? I've been keeping an eye out and have seen nothing from STG--the people who run the Paramount theater up here.

That Vegas date is part of that yearly Devil's Night event..
I went to Devil's Night in 07, the day before Daft at Vegoose. While it was the best costume party I've ever been to, The Crystal Method's DJ Set was absolutely atrocious. And trust me, I'm probably one of if not the biggest CM fan on the board.
What I don't get is why are they having it the weekend before Halloween? This makes no sense to me. Is it strictly because they don't want to compete with HHM and Monster Massive or what? You'd think that the Vegas crowd alone would be enough to put on something worthwhile.

Yeah Rocco's been sucking him off for publicity for years now, every time I see Kiefer on TV in a non-24 situation it's on Carson Daly or some shit promoting this band that "he really really loves". :rolleyes

bon iver was ridiculous of course tonight. all everyone talked about was the sunday show. buzzing buzzing about it. megafaun opened and were totally fun. like avett brothers lite. i guess a bunch of them used to be in a band with justin in high school. i bought their new album and i bought the volcano choir LP. good stuff. they played everything off FE,FA except for blindsided. right before they started the first song of their encore, someone yelled out for it and he laughed and said "i wish we knew how to play that." but i think he was serious. do they really not play it live? it seemed weird that they played everything except that. they also played babys which was nice. and brackett. and then the rest of the album and two songs with megafaun at the end. i ended up getting bomb ass front row balcony seats and was sitting next to sandra oh. i've never seen greys anatomy or sideways but my friend was super excited. she has a funny laugh. and someone said jonah hill and michael cera were there as well. big surprise. i was looking up comments on twitter just now and sondre lerche tweeted about being at the show so that was fun. can't wait for sunday!!!

Rain Machine was excellent tonight at the Echo. Played for around 70 minutes which is pretty long considering they only have one album. The reviews of the album haven't been too hot, and I haven't heard it, so I went into the show a bit skeptical. But being a big fan of Kyp Malone I definitely wasn't let down.
Met Kyp afterwards and chatted for a bit, really cool guy. Dave Sitek was in the house as well, I think. Either it was Dave or some guy that wears those same exact glasses that he wears that looked just like him.
They're playing a free show at the Getty tomorrow, HIGHLY recommended if you're looking for something to do!

They ended up playing all of the new album, Introductory Nomenclature from Farenheit Fair Enough, an unreleased song I didn't know the name of, and then he came out for an encore of Springstein's "I'm on Fire". the SF show was cool. though they barely filled the fillmore to 2/3 capacity. weak! I'd say that band has been forgotten in this country, but then I remember that nobody ever really knew them. still there were enough people to get cool singalongs for 'everything must go' and 'design for life'. it made me happy to finally see this band after 10 years of waiting.
