its doubtful but honestly, friday would be the day to put the police ahead of bjork. bjork is great and adored, but they wont play in fornt of rhcp and rage. no room for them there.and the way the lineups are setup there is room for them on friday. i think the rumor is strong and very very possible. i think gv would just give them a open invite and say "hey if u guys feel u r ready, the spot is yours!" we shall see! 89 days away.

Friday would be the logical day but I bet Sting wants Saturday. Hmmm, maybe in the tent like Madonna? :rolleyes

If they come which will be a modest bonus, they won't be THE headline. Marketing can promote it however they want, RATM is the headline. Thats one thing that won't change

People are excited for the police. I would be one of them. Synchronicity was one of my favorite tapes as a young boy in the 80s.....

They wouldnt post the Headliners, put tickets on sale, have fans of the headliners buy tickets to see them, then all of a sudden change the headliner to someone different...maybe ADD them to the list.... it dosent make sense to me, but whatever...

correct - PAul T of Goldenvocie has stated headliners are SET.

So, if The police do show it would be before one of the headliners. That's a big if.

IF the Police were to show up at all, I think they'd play right before Bjork on the main stage on Friday because:

1. Friday has the most room to add performers
2. Bjork is Friday's topline headliner, and "headliners are set"
3. I don't believe the implied magnitude of a Police reunion (nor the crowd to see them) would be relegated to the Outdoor Theatre stage

They won't be there

I keep reading that GV says, "All headliners are set." Seems like vague language to me: it can mean, "All headliners are set (i.e. you get what you see)" or, maybe, "All headliners are set (even though we haven't announced everyone yet)", in which case The Police still are a possibility. I'm still hoping for a Friday Sahara headliner tho: Underworld? Daft Punk repeat?

yeah, i hope the police play...not cause i would give a shit about seeing them, but maybe then my friday ticket would sell

There's a manager of a few bands that are playing at coachella who's a friend of mine, and he was saying that the Police are a sure thing.

I've never been a big Police fan (and I'm old enough to remember when they were the biggest band in the world), I don't own any of their records, but it would be nostolgic to see them play. I am sick of people saying it would be great for them to play on Friday so they can sell Friday tickets. Friday's lineup could use the Smashing Pumpkins, not a VH1 Classic band. If they do book the Police, I hope it is on Sunday, since my wife and I will probably leave early that day just to avoid the RATM crowd.

Hey, I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who once did Sting's hair back in '96 that says The Police are definitely playing. Of course, his dog says they're not, so I don't know what to believe.

Stop with all this fucking police talk, they aren't playing, face it. If you wanna see em in a festival setting so bad, then goto Bonnaroo.

Police are so crap; i really don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm travelling from Ireland to see Bjork, and if that idiot Sting upstages her by headlining on Friday i will lose all faith in mankind. for all that is good in this world, do NOT let that gobsheen near the place.

I think she did play at the Grammys. Isn't that where she wore the swan outfit? Or was that some other awards show? I don't know.... She's weird and I can't wait to see her!!!

Bjork wore the swan dress to the Oscars when "I've Seen it All" from Dancer in the Dark was nominated for Best Song.

the grammys are one of the least respectable award shows, playing at them does not necessarily ensure quality only quantity (of records sold)

CiderMouseRules
02-09-2007, 03:36 PM
Not defending the Grammys, but they aren't really about records sold. It's more about old guys who aren't hip to current music.

No shit. No offense to Bjork, but I'd gladly chew glass before listening to her at Coachella again. Her last showing was a downer. She's a brilliant musician in her own right, but I don't see how she is relevant.

The Police on the other hand, are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Roxanne - a timeless track. And, they split at thier peak in 1983, leaving millions of fans like me to dream about a reunion over the past 24 years.

Is it possible that The Police will be a late add for Coachella? Absolutely.

Is it probable? I don't think so.

We'll know at 11 a.m. PST on Monday morning when they announce the world tour.

NASHVILLE (Billboard) - Reunited rock trio the Police are expected to announce a 30th anniversary world tour during a news conference in Los Angeles on Monday, the day after the group opens the Grammy Awards.

The 11 a.m. PST press conference and "special announcement" by frontman Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers will take place at the Whisky A Go Go nightclub in West Hollywood.

The Police are headlining Bonnaroo 2007.

Which honestly seems more appropriate for them than Coachella.

They are making a full world tour announcement later today. Confirmed cities so far include Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Boston's Fenway Park.
