So I received a gift. This gift is a Charity Gift Certificate. I have to go on to the web site and choose which charity I want this gift card to go to.

I have never done this because I don't have faith in the system, but now I am forced to. Anyone have any favorite charities that I should pick? There isn't a Coachella charity travel fund for underprivleged music conesours is there?

My middle name is "Charity." Or is that Chastity? Oh well, I'll take your donation.

This is a pretty good website for checking out that sort of thing: http://www.charitynavigator.org/

You can search for their reviews on charities you might be considering. The efficiency ratings are especially interesting.

If norml was on there, I would give it to them.

I'm leaning towards Toys for Tots for children of Marine's.

This probably isn't an option if it's a website, but two great local Los Angeles charities are the South Central Los Angeles Ministry Project (http://www.southcentrallamp.org/) and A Window Between Worlds (http://www.awbw.org/awbw/home.php). The former is a non-profit started by a group of nuns which strives to provide parenting and early childhood educational support for families in South Central Los Angeles, and the later is a Venice-based nonprofit working with survivors of domestic violence and bringing art programs to shelters. I have done fairly extensive volunteering with both organizations, and know they both are doing good work but need more help.

Wheres the beef?

I thought that heifer.org was something by Hugh Heffner and he saved homeless bunnies or something. Then I went to the website..................
