This, btw, is what we're going off of. Unless someone disputes that this was the first poster put up on the site.

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i269/mountmccabe/d882b53d.jpg

I did a quick count and it looks like we had three people (from the original post) get 10+ right: summerkid, menikmati and Boourns. If I get a chance I'll do this up right; reposting all lists with the wins bolded with real tallies.

This is the first poster, I think. The new one has bands switched and some artists totally gone. Not that I think it affects the pool. The current poster is on the main page now.

I wish I had moved some of my never gonna happens on to my guesses. I would have had two more.

Boourns
12-10-2007, 08:43 AM
Okay, when do you kids want to do this? I'd say sometime before Christmas because once January hits, the rumors and "confirmations" will be out of control.

So for all the n00bs, everyone interested will submit a list of 20 bands they predict will play the next Coachella, and these lists will be submitted to a neutral third party, and said neutral third party will then post all the lists after the deadline has passed. And like before, there will be a list of restricted bands, because if everyone lists all the early "leaks", then it wouldn't be much of a contest.

Sound good to everyone? Any volunteers to collect all the lists?

There should be a requirement the first 3 bands on your list are your headliner guesses

summerkid

agreed, i think I proposed last year that headliners would be worth more points so you would have a choice between guessing headliners or not. Also Sahara headliners should be worth more as well, but not as much as the regular headliners.

Boourns
12-10-2007, 11:55 AM
Okay, how about this. Yes, the first three names on your list will be considered your headliner guesses, and you get double points for a correct headliner guess.

Sahara headliners are hard to establish though. Friday this year didnt even really have a Sahara headliner. I think all Sahara acts should be worth one point, just like all other acts. But feel free to put someone like Underworld or Chemical Bros as a headliner...

That should work. And yes, this should get started up before January.

I'm in. what's the deadline?

Boourns
12-10-2007, 07:23 PM
The deadline is next Tuesday, December 18. I will start a separate, official topic soon.

Like before, there will be a list of bands that are restricted from being predicted...basically just whatever bands are currently considered "confirmed" by myself, and this list will be posted sometime Monday, and if you don't like it, too bad. If Billboard or Pitchfork does a Breeders/RyG scoop immediately after said list is posted, they are still fair game.

And 20 bands are required in your list, no more, no less. If you list 25, then only the top 20 will be counted.

The top three names on your list will be considered your headliner predictions, and any correct headliner predictions will count for two points, with all other bands and dj's and James Blunts will count for one point.

Would anybody like to volunteer to collect all the submissions and post them on December 19th, the day after all the predictions will have been submitted? I would do it myself, but I want to participate as well, and don't fancy being accused of ripping off anyone's ideas, because I know how obnoxious some people can be.

I'll do it since I suck at making predictions. You can PM me or send it via e-mail.

I would make another unofficial personal prediction of the 20 (not in everyone's lists of predictions) that I think will be in the Coachella '08 lineup.

Boourns,

Let's get this thing going!

Please create the separate thread with this info as soon as possible. If you are ready to list all the restricted bands, do it asap in that thread.

Once you posted it, then anybody can start PMing me with their lists. I would then document the date and time I received their lists.
