They have not yet announced when tickets will go on sale for 2008. Last year, they went on sale on January 27th through Ticketmaster. I would guess that it will probably be a Saturday morning around then this year too.

sign up for the coachella community.

To do this I think you need to have purchased tickets in a previous year and used your confirmation code to create a user profile.

Exactly. Also, I think you would have had to order them online as well.

And if you dont have that, you better work up your post count. No one is gonna PM the presale password to a lurker.

You better have a screen name that does not have the word "Delta" in it

I got my tickets and passes four days or so after they went on sale. I think if you make sure you know when the public onsale is and buy on that day, you shouldn't have any problems. I could be totally wrong, but I would have guessed that if a year was going to sell out fast it would have been this past one (07) what with the RATM reunion and all, and I seem to remember there still being camping passes almost two weeks later, and tickets a few weeks even after that.
I'm just wondering if this year GV will give foreign customers the option of paying for a courier to deliver the tickets. I had to choose between will call (a sketchy situation when you're flying in) and regular, unmarked, lowest priority snail mail. it took them damn near seven weeks to arrive. I mean... two tickets and two camping passes was damn near eight hundred dollars after taxes and service charges... at the very least LET ME drop an extra $25 on getting the tickets to me safely and promptly. it'd be like buying a guitar on e-bay and it being sent to you tossed in the cargo hold of a greyhound bus for two weeks. it's not a guarantee of problems, but it increases the chances of loss or damage exponentially.

What was up with those VIP passes? people told me they spent 800 for a pair (i think) and it's TOTALLY worth it
but they were pretty drunk at the time
anyone explain what "benefits" they give?

If you buy the VIP tickets through AMEX Gold, are they still the same price? Anything over $20 more, I don't think I'd pay for.

Everyone is right in that VIP tickets are actually worse than gen'l admission. If you look at a map, you'll understand why. However, the only time that I wish that I had them was during the headliner sets. I ended up getting hit in the face by a lone guy who wanted to start a mosh pit during Rage, and that's that I was unbelievably far away from the stage. I was also really far away for RHCP and wished that I could have been closer w/o being squished.

If VIP tickets aren't too much more, I might ask my friend to put it on his AMEX Gold for me. Otherwise, I'll live.

Last Coachella, American Express Gold Card holders could buy special tickets through the Gold Card Events program for $567.50 per ticket including fees. I'm not sure if it will be the same for the upcoming year.

My friend's uncle works for Heineken, so we have gotten VIP tickets 2 of the last three years. They have their ups and downs. My wife and her friend loved it, because it was a nice, cool place to relax mid day. One of the best things is that you can enter through the back and avoid the lines to get in. You can buy hard drinks (as opposed to just beer). In '06 they had a separate VIP area set up to watch Madonna's set, which was cool for my wife (I did not watch, and from what I heard, did not miss much). There are always celebs walking around, if that is your thing.

I could have cared less about the VIP area (aside from my wife enjoying it). You can only see the main stage (and it is still pretty far/not very visible during the day). There is a worse selection of food and it is ultimately an unimpressive experience. One year we also got backstage for a day and that was equally unimpressive (aside from seeing the bands walking around). Unless it is earlier in the day (sometimes they will let you stand on the side of the stage) the view sucks and it is way better to be in the crowd.

I guess, in a nut shell I would not pay extra for VIP tickets.

In 06 I saw some people watching from the sound booth in front of the main stage...there were some folding chairs set up in there. Staff?

a presale means before the regular sale so since neither has happened yet I don't know what you are getting so uppity about. also, is there some sort of rule that there has to even be a presale?

Why do you even bother explaining?

Complaining is dumb, even dumber when you complaint about PRE-sale

You gotta be buddy buddy with people on here so you can get in on it. Only cool people are allowed, apparently you are not.

I agree with Dani, there is no ''rule'' that there has to be a pre sale, its more expected now than anything. First question always asked now when a big show is coming in regards to ticket onsale,''IS THERE A PRE SALE? OMGZZZZ!!!'
