wow. that band is a joke. it seems like all the shit bands are the ones that come out and say they're playing coachella first. there are exceptions of course.

i hope to god this is the type of band that will have one of the first set times of the day.........

Yeah YB blow pretty bad. I wasn't digging Sia, Chromeo, Sons and Daughters, Dredg or Kid Sister either.

However Autolux, Akron/Family, Simian Mobile Disco, and Cafe Tacvba are exciting.

And of course, Spiritualized is vastly magnificent. I am extremely pleased with that addition.

I haven't seen any confirmation of Man Man. Post me to that and I'll have a heart attack, wake up in the hospital and do a little dance, and then I'll post it on the first page. and, Les Savy Fav aren't confirmed just because of that. They'll probably be there, but no list yet.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/buzzbands/2008/01/death-cab-for-c.html

Next week, you can expect an announcement of the roster, which I was told cryptically might include a surprising veteran act or two (not David Bowie) -- and will not include the rumored set by the reunited My Bloody Valentine. Meanwhile, message boards and blogs are bursting with names of the acts heading to Indio for the April 25-27 festival, but precious little information has leaked regarding headliners. Among the bands expected below are hotshot locals Cold War Kids and Autolux. That's a nice start. Here you go, in no particular order -- comment away ...

Death Cab for Cutie
The Breeders
Justice
Jens Lekman
Junkie XL
The Verve
UNKLE
Cold War Kids
Chromeo
Autolux
Spiritualized
Portishead
VHS or Beta
Dan Deacon
Brett Dennen
The Cinematic Orchestra
Battles
Kid Sister
Crystal Castles
Louis XIV

This came from a lurker in the rumours/gossip section. But its from the LA times. I am very excited they listed Battles and Portishead.
January 21st it is people. Get ready.

If MBV is not playing, I'll have to scalp Bonnaroo tickets to afford my trip to Europe in june. But if they are in fact playing, I no longer need to travel so I'll sell my ticket for MBV at Glasgow for face value. Coachella will save many lives booking them.

Thats waaaay too much, and thats liek pushing the rules there playing at the end of March in l.a. and stuff. I dont think its wise to book Justice, if its even true. They will be the most played out overhyped act and its not going to live up to their first performance last year.

I still have this weird feeling Justice aren't going to play. I know that would challenge the validity of the whole article... but still. It would be kind of lazy of GV to book Justice again. Let them get another album under thier belt, then bring em back.

Also, what are everyones thoughts on the "veteran" act(s)? Personaly, I am hoping for Prince, Roger Waters, David Gimore and/or Paul McCartney.

If this is true, it's pretty meh. I mean, you can't go wrong with Portishead, The Verve, Spiritualized, Battles, and Dan Deacon, but all those are already expected. No real surprises here, except Justice, which would be awesome, and no My Bloody Valentine, which FUCKING SUCKS! I can't afford $1200 to fly to Europe just to see them, which is probably the only way, since it's not entirely unreasonable to expect them to never play America. Ewww...Louis XIV.

Surprising veteran act or two? Prince and Neil Young, perhaps? Does R.E.M. count as a veteran act?

I am hoping this list is leaving out a lot of major acts, like The Chemical Bros and a reunion awesome enough to compensate for a lack of MBV.

I feel like Prince and U2 are both within the realm of possibility, but why people keep on thinking that they'd book No Doubt is fucking beyond me.

U2 could sell out the polo grounds on their own. the place'd be overrun with 30- and 40-something guys with glasses wondering what the fuck is going on. (in other words, guys like me).

Prince'd be great.

No Doubt would be worse than Coldplay, Paul T would have to turn in his cool card for that one.

Do I sound mad? Well I guess I'm a little pissed
Every action has a point, five points make a fist
You close 'em, you swing 'em, it's hurts when it hits
And the truth can be a bitch, but if the boot fits
I got an idea: You should get a tattoo that says "Warning"
That's all, just a warning, so the potential victim can take a left and save breath,
And avoid you, sober and upset in the morning
I wanna scream, "Fuck you Lucy!"
But the problem is I love you Lucy
So instead I'ma finish my drink and have another
While you think about how you used to be my lover

BEFORE THAT I WAS JUST ANOTHER FACE ON THE BUS
TAPPING MY FOOT TO THE BEAT ON THE RADIO
DREAMING ABOUT THE MIC AND THE MONEY AND THE LADIES OH

SOME DAY I'MA STOP TRYING TO BORROW YOUR CAR

JAMS WERE BETTER

I want to stand on top of this mountain and yell
I want to wake up and break up this lake of hell
I feel like a bitch for letting the she twist me up
The last starfighter is wounded, time to give it up
On a pick it up mission, kept it bitter
Gettin' in a million memories just to forget her
The difficulty in keepin' emotions controlled
Cookies for the road, took me by the soul
Hunger for the drama, hunger for the nurture
Gonna take it further, the hurt feels like murder
Interpret the eyes, read the lines on her face
The sunshine is fake, how much time did I waste?
Fuck you Lucy for leaving me
Fuck you Lucy for not needing me
I wanna say fuck you because I still love you
No, I'm not okay, and I don't know what to do

I don't think Oasis will be there, but I would jump for joy if they were.

My ex bf named our cat Liam.

No motivation.

That's ok, I got an awesome cat out of it.

That Monklish guy is saying in the brooklynvegan comments that Daft Punk will be returning. What do you guys think of that?

He also puts the Talking Heads rumors to bed, if he's to be believed. It's a bit soon for Daft Punk to return, but people seem to really want it to happen, so who knows.

I stand by the conviction that Daft will play something somewhere in 08. Although my Led prediction is looking worrisome, but I see two ways of looking at it:

Plant and Krauss is touring from May through June, right? An LZ tour though is seeming more and more not just likely but absolutely certain, just a question of whens and wheres. So either LZ is going to come over just to blow Coachella away as a kind of announcement of their return to live awesomeness but then break for a couple months for Plant and Krauss then kick off the world tour in the late summer.

OR we don't get any Led at Coach at all but Led and Radiohead will be headlining the new Jerzchella festival. Given the poor track record of festivals on the east coast I'd imagine GV is going to try to insure that this new baby of theirs sells out hardcore, and that would certainly do the trick.

Radiohead playing Nuchella makes sense. It explains why they were definitively debunked so long ago. Even if Radiohead said no for Coachella back in October, that would have left three months to attempt to coax a yes out of them. But if they are playing Nuchella, then they probably weren't even invited to Coachella in the first place.

Daft Punk playing Coachella would compensate for their too-short-of-a-tour last year. They could have easily sold out a second show in LA, too.

Hahaha, imagine if Jerzchella (fuck you, it's my state and I'm sticking with my name) has a Radiohead, Zeppelin, and Daft Punk headliner trio? Everyone on this board from the west side of the country would be sooooo pissed.

Seriously though...it's about fucking time the northeast got a proper summer music festival. Field Day would've been amazing, but the promoters fucked that up royally. I'm hoping GV doesn't fail me with this one.

That would have been absolutely amazing, wow. Radiohead + Beck + Underworld + Spiritulatized would alone = amazing Coachella '08 for me.

Well that sort of happened even though Field Day was cut to one day - all of those were pretty much back to back - but Beck got hurt. I think Beth Orton was after Spiritualized, I can't remember. The rain however - was NOT amazing.

I've figured out one of the headliners. It's going to be a massive stage, on it's own, draped in black velvet, with burning crosses. Slayer and Metallica are going to duel with their 80s material, and, at the end, one band will sacrifice the other to the devil. And, there'll be fireworks and fake blood.
