I was fortunate to take my family to coachella both years...

And we came out saying the same thing.

WE thought 2006 was better than 2007..Just our opinion........ whats yours???

We thought as a whole on different stages they had a better line-up...

I wasn't sick for three weeks after 2006. But on the other hand, 2007 had Jarvis Cocker...

2006 had 2 days 2007 had 3, you cannot compare them. When its a few years down the line compare 3 days years to 3 day years.

2007 owned for sure.

Anyone who says 2006 usually responds with, "well, 2006 had Daft Punk." which is cool, but 2007 had a whole extra day of fabulous music.

2007 had more bands I wanted to see, since it was three days, but the individual days in 2006 were more packed full of goodness.

I had a great time both years, but each had its distinct advantages and disadvantages.

Both years were fairly hot and crowded. Both years had extremely loyal fans that had an effect on the overall mood. (Tool and Madonna fans in 06, Rage fans in 07)

I had little to no performance conflicts in 2006, but was tortured by many conflicts in 2007. I saw way more music in 2007, but obviously there was an extra day.

Even though certain things sucked in 2007 (hotter temps, secret back road routes discovered by the hordes, will call disaster) all in all, Coachella just gets better every year for me.

11-05-2007, 01:24 PM
well 07 was my first coachella so i just gonna give a opinion not on 06 vs 07 but coachella vs everything else...

coachella wins simply cuz 3 days is always better than 2. it was very hot and it did get crowded at certain times, and there was a vibe at times of some thinking they were better than others. i only think this cuz this festival is getting bigger and bigger and sometiems people go not for the music but just to be a part of the scene. which sometimes sux. but that happens at every festival so ill let that pass.

coachella is amazing simply cuz of the music diversity and what it means.. its just a great festival and it gets my #1 vote for this year.

I enjoyed 07 much more thank 06. I only went for Sat. in 06. I went solo in 07 and met TONS of people. The guys from London Ontario, and the girls from Australia I camped next to were so funny/cool and made the trip very memorable. I enjoyed the music much more in 07 as well. I also paid a total of $90 for the 2 07 tix, as opposed to $80+ for one day in 06.

You're dead to me for not bolding MSTRKRFT.

ALSO, if there is one thing we can ALL agree upon, it's that both 2006 and 2007 will be better than 2008, which I will be unable to attend. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

I think 2007 was better:

The good:

The "pod people" (DoLab) was really cool, the dancers were perfect, especially seeing them and getting sprayed with water at the hottest time of the day.

No Madonna, so the tents opened on time.

3 days, so more bands to see.

The bad:

1.5 hours to exit the parking lot after RATM! Maybe this is normal, but on the nights that they have the main headliner NOT the last band, it means that you don't have EVERYONE exiting at the same time!

Excessive amounts of dust, because the grass was not green/alive on the first day; usually it starts out alive, and ends up dead, but this time it started out dry, not sure why.

2006 had its perks at Night. but the victor was 2007 and the three day coachella. Not only did it make a huge impact on the line up times (much cooler to have performers spread out) but the camp ground this year was just fucking rad. Not to mention the line up this year was just out of control cool. Instead of having like 3 name acts to throw at people, there was a handful you could name off each day.. Yet I love all coachellas... kinda hard to hate.

2007 hands down! Even if I would have seen Daft Punk, 2007 had a lot more artists plus a whole another day.
Having been to every Coach since 2001, 2006 was my personal worst year ever....loaded with bad decisions (Taking a gamble with Madonna and missing oh I don't know: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mogwai and the first few tracks of Massive Attack to hear her play 6 lousy songs...And walking away from Daft Punk, yes we were tired and I thought it would just be another DJ set..lord was I wrong...thank god for Red Rocks...) and an "meh" performance from one of my favorite all time bands Sigur Ros (Performance wasn't "bad" per se, but it was loaded with technical problems from the start and they weren't able get into the swing of things until song 3 and by that time their set was half over...it was my 4th time seeing them).
2007 was fantastic for me with Bjork, Cornelius and AF talking the festival away for me anyways.....
Let's hope 2008 is just as good or better....

I've only been in 2007, but it's difficult for me to imagine that any previous year was better. I had my mind blown on three consecutive days.

As I was walking back to my tent on Friday night, I thought, "I've already got my money's worth." Man, that was a good feeling.

2006 - GOOD - Nice weather, No conflicts, Daft Punk, VIP...
BAD - Madonna, Hotel 50 miles from Coachella...

2007 - GOOD - 3 days, Nice Hotel in Palm Springs, More Bands to discover...
BAD - Too Hot, Sunday I was exhausted, Coachella flu, Conflicts

2007 > 2006 for me too:

2006
Good: more organized than in year's past; stellastarr*; Tool
Bad: still made bad decisions --- missed Metric, DP, and YYYs

2007:
Good: Friday and Saturday's lineups (filled with must sees; little conflict)
Bad: almost as hot as 2004; dragging on Sunday

Looking forward to 2008!

2006 was amazing, but most of the bands i wanted to see were at night and there were a lot of sacrifices made. i felt like 2007 wasn't as chaotic, and of course it is going to be better because there was one more full day of music if you went all three days. and aside from the amazing bands that played this year, there were also far more art installations and that entire shade area was genius. +they got rid of like 90% of those lame booths they used to have. i was most excited about that. &that free water setup?

i'll have to say 07 fo`sho

I've decided that 2006 was more enjoyable. I wasn't sick and every day was completely packed with goodness. No 4 hours of down-time at the start of the day, but this was probably good to have this year since I was sick by Saturday. While the headliners were almost as divisive as this year's, Daft Punk united everyone in a way that didn't really happen this year. I guess Arcade Fire was the closest thing, since pretty much everyone saw them and the crowd was massive.
