I myself am somewhat excited to round out my Depeche Mode remasters collection with ULTRA and EXCITER today. Sure they're weaker DM records, but I've come this far... plus remastered versions of Home, Love Thieves, and It's No Good are worth it. Like with the releases from The Cure, these remastered editions of classic records are so worth the investment - they sound sooo good!

Some other releases today. Anyone heard any of that CULT record?

CULT - Born Into This
DYLAN - Greatest Hits Collection
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - Magic
SIOUXSIE - Mantaray
ANNIE LENNOX - Songs of Mass Destruction
JOHN FOGERTY - Revival
PJ HARVEY - White Chalk
IRON AND WINE - Shepards Dog
JOSE GONZALEZ - In Our Nature
MICK JAGGER - Best of
CAKE - B Sides Collection
THE PIPETTES - We Are The Pipettes
DEPECHE MODE - Ultra (remastered)
DEPECHE MODE - Exciter (remastered)
OVER THE RHINE - Snow Angels
TURIN BRAKES - Dark On Fire (import)
STEREOPHONICS - Pull the Pin (import)

and let us not forget "Christmas with Carnie", Carnie Wilson's favorite Christmas songs. (albeit listed here as a joke, this is an actual release)

Are those remastered DM CD's noticeably better?

My husband wants to buy the 1408 DVD today.

I heard the new Springsteen single "Radio Nowhere" and it's actually pretty good. I'll probably get that one.

First off, must say thanks - I love my DM treats!

Now about those cd's...

I think they are very much worth it - but i'm a pretty big fan and these are like definitive records of my youth, I will always cherish such things. But the quality is really great. I run the 5.1 DVDs through my home theater system and it's amazing.

But even if your don't do that, the earlier releases like Speak and Spell and Some Great Reward also benefit because the original audio levels were very low. Same goes for anything from itunes. Music For the Masses, Violator, and Songs of Faith... are less noticable.

The other bonus is the live DVD interviews and stuff, not a huge amount but nice little treats for the diehard fan.

Yeah, the 1408 DVD is better than the theatrical release.

yeah, today's my dad's birthday and he's been talking about the new springsteen album for like a month so its pretty much a no brainer for me to get that for him today.

As much as I am looking forward to Rainbows, the lack of artwork and actual hard disc makes me a bit sad. 10/10 is new release day in the UK (FYI)

Give me the days when local shops had a OK Computer/Kid A midnight sale - that was tons of fun, hanging out with fans, free stickers and shit. While throwing the music industry for a much needed loop, for me the new album is already ringing as a hollow experience.

I am still torn on the PJ Harvey. There are some good songs but I haven't decided if it's a good record.

Also while we're talking about last week "the Mending of the Gown" by Sunset Rubdown is on a shortlist for best songs I've heard all year.

Or maybe that album comes out next week. Not this week. Next week.

"Do You Wanna Be Buried With My People" is also on that short list and also about next week or maybe even the one after that. See Scout Niblett (with Will Oldham.)

Bruce, Iron & Wine, PJ Harvey, Pipettes will all be purchased at some point. Just not within the next week, unless I see one for $9.99. Actually, I wouldn't be shocked if the latter three were released at Target for that price. Bruce would never charge less than $14 though cause he is struggling for the working class.

see above post #4.

Well, mostly because it's a series.

I didn't think the remastering part didn't apply to anything after Violator, but, you do get everything in 5.1, which was not available before now, plus the live dvd extras and what not.

They are nice.
