I think somethign will become of it when its looked into more. And yes cali requires insurance, or else.

Props to getting to the National show and now FINALLY admitting you saw a celeb even though Adam Goldberg counts.

RotationSlimWang
09-29-2007, 04:57 PM
Unless someone was injured there is no police report. I doubt they were hassling her. And also Cali cops don't really give that much of a shit about checking your insurance it seems.

ewiggy

I thought California required insurance. Did you get a ticket?

california probably does require insurance, but i was pretty much crying non-stop for an hour and a half, and me and my car both looked pretty fucked up, so i think the cop felt bad and didn't cite me. i also have an expired registration and a FL license with an old address and he didn't cite me for those things either.

what does an airbag feel like anyways?

i felt the airbag at almost the exact same moment that i felt the impact of hitting the car in front of me. it knocked me backwards and burned my arms. i guess i got off easy - my mom said they usually burn people's faces, too.

i totally saw that accident

really? like, saw it happen, or drove past it? sorry if you had to drive past it. looks like we totally fucked up traffic for quite awhile.

there was a police report.

RotationSlimWang
09-29-2007, 05:09 PM
I guess they figured you might have been injured, then. At least that's what the cops told me when an uninsured, unlicensed Mexican in an unregistered ran a red light at 2 pm and smacked up the Honda I inherited from my father and drove out here. Fuckers.

every personal experience of mine contradicts that statement.

Perhaps it was more of a Ventura County thing. When I was living out there I was uninsured for a little while and a bunch of people told me that cops almost never ask them for proof of insurance. Of course, they also had cops give them their weed back from time to time, so...

I sort of hate that it seems like getting into a car accident is basically a rite of passage when you first move to Los Angeles. Are drivers really just that bad, or is it that we spend more time on the road?

Also wiggy do you have whiplash? How's your back and neck?

Glad you made it to the show and all, still, please tell me you won that box from a contest or something and didn't actually pay for that car... I mean, the accident did what the designers didn't do: give the car some shape.

Also wiggy do you have whiplash? How's your back and neck?

yeah, kind of. my neck hurts to move it in any direction, but i think it's mostly from the cuts on my neck/chest. i'm pretty stiff moving around today - everyone keeps telling me it'll be worse tomorrow.

ewiggy~Hope the hurt is goin' away and bein' replaced by memories of a good show~California does require insurance, which you may need to answer for, but as far as the plates and registration...I think you have a certain amount of time to do transfers between states, and who's to know when you may have moved here, right? I may catch shit for this next bit of advice, but in a situation like that, yes, the tears non-stop probably helped, and the next best one is to play dumb and airheaded about the move and getting your registration in a timely manner...Best of Luck on the outcome![/I]

i felt the airbag at almost the exact same moment that i felt the impact of hitting the car in front of me. it knocked me backwards and burned my arms. i guess i got off easy - my mom said they usually burn people's faces, too. I've never been in an accident because I know how to drive.

And you have time inbetween moves/moving to get your license, and to register your vehicle in your new state, BUT you are never authorized to drive with no registration [from any state] or a suspended registration or no valid license from any state. There is no grace period for registration. If your registration is expired in X state, and you didn't register it in the state of your residence, then you are going to be cited if caught. No transfer time allowed for no registration.

Neither of my vehicles have an airbag...I didn't know they got hot...From what?

from howstuffworks.com:

The airbag's inflation system reacts sodium azide (NaN3) with potassium nitrate (KNO3) to produce nitrogen gas. Hot blasts of the nitrogen inflate the airbag.

but i think most of the "burns" that i sustained are from the force and speed of it striking my skin as it came out. it's like a rope burn. not like a ow-hot burn.

In 2003, this guy cut me off on the road and I swerved to miss him. I fishtailed and wound up sliding into a tree. I say sliding because I went up onto the median and slid on the wet grass. The airbags burned the area around the outside of my thumbs, and a little of my forearm. That was it. Of course, I hit it at maybe 35 miles an hour so it wasn't a very strong collision. Still totalled the car, though.

With injuries like yours, the circumstances involved, and your situation it might not hurt to get a free consult with an attorney. Not that you are in trouble, but they might know whether you are better off being aggressive in trying to collect from the insurance companies involved.Don't delay, sooner is better, because your memory (and your injuries) will fade...

Sorry to hear about your wreck, wiggy. This could be worse - the car(s) that you hit could have been seriously damaged and they could sue the crap out of you which is a lot worse than having your car be the one that's majorly fucked up. Because, as Randy the Dark Knight pointed out, it's essentially impossible not to be found liable if you hit a car in the back.

This sucks Ewiggy. I have been in 5 car crashes and was only injured once. My ears started bleeding after one accident but I never went to the hospital since they stopped bleeding after awhile. Not to generalize but California drivers are the worst. Mrs. FatBastard had her mirror on her car hit while she was in her car a few weeks ago. The girl just kept going. She confronted her in front of her house. She acted like it was no big deal. Pasadena does not even send anyone out for accidents. Mrs. Fatbastard had to go to the Pasadena police station to fill out the hit and run report. If I was 20 years younger and dumber, I would have went out to that person's house that same night and put a hammer to that car. Here's another one; I am waiting for a parking spot in Monrovia one Friday a couple of years ago. This brand new Mercedes SUV backs up into me. The person gets out and apologizes. We exchange information and I call my insurance on Monday. My insurance company tells me that the other person states it was my fault and that the person in their passenger seat was their insurance agent! I land up paying a 500.00 decductible because of some liar who wasn't paying attention.

My first Corolla, Judy, was never the same after her accident. She use to go 120 before the accident. After the accident, the steering wheel started vibrating at 95. Hope you and the car fell better soon.

Chances you will get a ticket for no insurance when the insurance companies of the other drivers pursue you. It'll be about $800 and then they'll refund $600 if you renew. Since you were the last car to enter the pile up chances are they're going to hold you liable for whatever damage your vehicle caused on the one it impacted.
